I know the answer is no but I could try asking anyway...

I had a beautiful review nearly completed for Love Love?, and in the blink of an eye my sister's friend comes storming in the room and hits the power switch!!! I lost everything I typed just like that in an instant and it is seriously frustrating. When I booted the computer back up the first thing I saw was my recovered word document and I thought this site could seriously use a feature like that.

I don't know if Rebecca can see or pull up what I typed before the crash but I can't see myself typing all that over again anytime soon and leaving it blank isn't fair either so I'm at a loss. Is there anyway at all to implement some type of data recovery program or make it so Rebecca can find lost information. Maybe a small auto-save feature or something...

To top it all off, now I have to get ready for work on this negative note! I'm going to have a terrible day already.

That would be a problem since Websites do not submit info until you push 'SAVE'.

That would mean Rebecca would have to make an active editor to make that request work.

By "active editor," do you mean something like the one Blogger uses where it frequently auto-saves after you start typing text?

or Gmail or others. see a form like what we enter in on is in a form command, the 'active' editor requires javascript and more cpu horsepower to work.

My question would be ... what did XK do to tick off his sister's friend? I don't know about what happens in your household, but in mine, messing with someone's computer when they are working (or typing) is a capital offense.

The computer in my room needs a new sound card and new speakers so I use my sister's computer. Her friend was trying to find the light switch and accidentally (I don't believe her) hit the power switch instead, even though this isn't her first time over our house.

Anyway, I think a way for Rebecca to recover lost information is a must. I'm suprised this concern hasn't been brought up already. I realize it would be a painful process to grant my wish but it wouldn't be the first miracle Rebecca has pulled out of the bag.

And just who plugs a computer into a wall socket intended for a lamp - which is connected to a switch on the wall?? .... Well, your sister obviously !!! Ya might want to move some power plugs around in her room .....

Here is a cheap sound card and here are some cheap speakers.

No... its like a fan switch. Like when you enter a room and right next to the door is two switches on the wall: one for power in the room and the other for a fan or whatever is wired to the ceiling. I don't know why anyone would want to turn off the power to a room but I didn't build the house so whatever...

LOL... You see. Jan-Chan is too funny. OMG... I'm crackin up over here. LOL

I have to settle with the makeshift review on Love Love? now until something comes up. I had it right the first time and my thoughts can never be duplicated the same way again.

Sigh... Rosario + Vampire Capu2.

If you didn't hit submit then the site never saw it at all, so there's nothing I can do for you.

That said, it's not an impossible feature to implement for the future, LiveJournal does something like this. Basically they have something in the background that regularly sends your draft to the server. So if your browser goes away for whatever reason they can offer it back up when you return to the site. Not always exactly where you left it, but within a minute or two at least.

That would be fine. Whatever you can manage is all I ask. Anything is better than nothing in this case.

Oh, don't misunderstand, we won't be seeing that real soon, as there's rather a lot of work involved in implementing something like that. Just saying that I could do it and it'll be on the todo list.

As I said earlier (as I do some of that stuff) I know it's a lot of work for Rebecca to implement.

I think it's easier of Xeno just puts some Duct tape on the 'power' switch :)

Or .. how about writing your review in MS Word (which has an autosave feature) and then posting it to MIKOMI.ORG

Just a point of interest that has come to my attention that I'm sure most people are aware of already.

Internet Explorer 8 now has a recovery program in place that can retrieve lost data on the web! After an update that required a system shut-down, I went to open all my Mikomi tabs like usual and the computer asked me if I would like to open all previous tabs that were closed unexpectedly. I was stunned. It even opened my work that I left while I was in the middle of the edit page!

I just thought that was cool and wanted to share that...
