(Watch+, to be exact)

I, too, was not particularly thrilled by the first episode of this series. In my opinion, countless gun-action series have felt the kiss of death as a result of the tired old I'm-too-good-to-miss-and-too-lucky-to-get-hit cliche. Typically, the hero/heroine is heavily outnumbered, yet manages to take out countless opponents, who somehow cannot seem to hit the broad side of a barn. No doubt the intention was to demonstrate how good, and how "cool" the main character is, but the conclusion I draw is that if the character has the devil's own luck, and pathetic opponents to boot, he/she isn't really in any danger and there's no reason for me to get excited. Right from the start, Najica gets a perfect score on a tactical marksmanship exercise; then, in an actual shootout, a bad-girl with a gun spots an unarmed Najica at least twenty feet away, and before she can squeeze a trigger Najica somehow dashes over and knocks her for a loop. So, in other words, I found this series to be seriously flawed from the start, and had grave doubts over whether I would find it worth watching.

Fortunately, though I didn't find Najica to be a particularly believable character, an amusing, intriguing one soon emerged--Lila. Sometimes childishly naive, other times brilliantly analytical (and capable of superhuman physical feats), her ability to pop back and forth between the two modes is tailor made for jokes. The way an oddly charismatic semi-human character has the effect of salvaging an otherwise uninteresting cast reminds me of Dorothy from Big O. Unfortunately, I don't think nearly enough use was made of Lila's potential for comedy.

The series as a whole got off to a slow start, but episode four represented a marked improvement, being both seriously funny and having a mystery with a solution that wasn't handed to me on a silver platter. I hoped it was a sign of things to come, but no, the series had already reached it's highpoint. I say this because I think the show should have tried to be more of a comedy than a drama--I found the comic episode four to be more entertaining than any of the episodes that tried to be dramatic.

I think the basic problem with Najica is that it takes itself too seriously. Given the serious, mysterious tone of the show, I was certain that the conclusion would involve some sort of startling revelation about the origin of the Humarits, but it didn't really turn out that way. A couple episodes on the final disc included semi-intriguing discoveries of what human emotions Humarits were capable of, but it's never really made clear why they needed to be rounded up. Also, we don't learn enough about their creator, Dr. Rin--she only appears in the last episode or two, and has so little airtime that I'm left uncertain as to whether she was supposed to be the series' chief villain. The series almost ended on a shocking note--but no, they were just playing with us. All-in-all, the impression I'm left with is "what was the point of all that?". I'd be angry and frustrated, except I didn't have particularly high expectations to begin with.

I started watching the subbed version, as usual, but acting on a recommendation from another review I started watching in dub mode, which I found satisfactory. Either the dub script closely follows the subtitled one, or perhaps because this show is set in the future, within a mysterious world of secret agents, localization doesn't seem to be a problem. Also, it became clear pretty soon that there was no point in paying close attention and taking notes. This is the sort of show I watch when I'm exhausted and don't want to have to think. I guess it might be worth a rent, but just barely.

Oh yeah, there were panties in this show too. In my experience, underwear tends to be a stinky, sweaty thing, so I don't know why I was supposed to be intrigued by them.

Watch 8 8 6 7 4 SummonerSupreme [series:925#2060]
I finally picked this one up after reading the manga and watching Agent Aika and hearing all the comparisons. While this one is much the same (even done by the same people), Najica is better and worse than Aika in some ways. The better is the storyline is done better here and the action is more varied, but don't worry, there are still plenty of girlfights and loads of panties in between. The worse is outside of characters and more emphasis on plotline, it's not much different from Aika and the anime characters look different from the manga which came first (at least Najica does). Also, the music seems out of place sometimes and is way too repetitive. It's really a toss-up between this and Aika as to which is better, but I'd take this one in the short-term, but Aika for long term. Just watch this one on TV if you can since it airs on Anime Network and save your money for Aika.

After watching Agent Aika- I had to gt my hands on this. If you liked Aika there's not much reason why you shouldn't like this. It's practicily the same- just its longer and its a series. I reckon there are more panty shots here but aika had more skimpy panties and more revealing poses and shots.

Rent Forbin [series:925#1573]
Watching episode 1 I almost turned off this Anime. Too many panty shots kept distracting me (Badly too)
But after that, this is a very good watch. Najica plays the James Bond flick very calm and Lila is a great sidekick.
This also resembles Noir where NO ONE bleeds (Except 1) and every girl shows off her panties at least 5 times (Except the one girl who wears a long skirt)
I'll fix the picture later, it doesn't seem to upload
