Many people left the earth and moved into space. The satellite NEXT became a second home for mankind, and continued to grow. However, due to conflicts with the government of Earth, NEXT declared its independence and a war began. The mysterious entity known as "S" is also out causing trouble, and Captain Akane Aoi is sent out to capture it. And, blissfully unaware of all this on an abandoned satellite, a group of free-spirited people continue to pilot and maintain their Metal Vehicles (MVs) and live for the moment. These different groups will all share a similar destiny that they never expected.

[12 TV episodes (25min each)]

"ネクスト" ("nekusuto") is the kana sound pattern for "next", "戦記" ("senki") means "military history"; "エーアガイツ" ("eegaitsu") is the kana sound pattern for "Ehrgeiz" which is German for "ambition".

Unevaluated Stretch [series:915#628]
Any series which qualifies as Anime is entitled to a page, I assume, even if it's not particularly outstanding (besides, I like creating new pages!). Ehrgeiz struck me as a sort of combo of Gundam (war between Earth and a one-time Earth colony) and Outlaw Star (a third faction, who just want to be free of restrictions). The OP theme was semi-catchy, whereas I fast-forwarded through the ED song after listening to a few seconds of it. The use of guitar music during the episode itself reminded me of Cowboy Bebop. The animation was mediocre--I noticed two-dimensional motion being employed to cut corners in scenes featuring spacecraft. I've only seen the first two episodes (there are 12 altogether) so I'll leave this "Unevaluated" just in case it shapes up later on. So far, my impression is of a definite second-string series. One other thing--this series has nothing to do with a SquareSoft videogame which goes by the same name.
