Start with Yuna, Savior of the Light, Galaxy Defender, a the number one fan of TV (and real life) superhero Polylina. Add Yuna's friend Yuri, an android with an astonishing appetite. Multiply by Misaki, the new girl in class, who is actually a spy of the Galactic Council, sent to assess a charge that Yuna is trying to take over the galaxy. Divide by the spinster Fraulein D, who is using Misaki as a pawn in a larger scheme to put Yuna, Yuri, the mechanical sprite Elner, and the slow-talking Shiori out of commission so that she can take over the galaxy. Confused? Then we won't factor in the cooking contest, the lost puppy, Fraulein D's hench-women, or any of the other girls who help Yuna save the universe.

Watch Stretch [series:781#628]
I watched the first half of Galaxy Fraulein Yuna in dubbed form. I'd been warned by other reviews of the effect of the squealing, infantile voices of the English language voice actors, and indeed they were not just kidding. Charachters were actually hard to take seriously as they spoke in this manner--Polylina's adult voice came as a relief. All in all, the first half didn't leave me particularly impressed. Well, the critics said part 2 was supposed to be better. I feel qualified to list this show by it's Japanese title since I watched the second half in subtitled form. What an improvement! It just "felt" much better. Far more amusing lines, once even a bit risque--were lines like this censored from the first half, or was it just not as good to begin with? Anyway, my final conclusion: Not too bad! It gave me a few good laughs, the plot was adequate, cute artwork, etc. It kind of reminded me of Project A-Ko. Yuna is not a bad show, but it's only an hour long and there's so much better stuff waiting to be rented.

My favorite line: "I didn't say you could name my ship after an ugly fish!" --Polylina
