Naruto, Naruto, Naruto. This is the show that has been hailed as the greatest and panned as the worst. But for something with such a red-hot buzz surrounding it, Naruto is decidedly mediocre. The plot is your standard shonen fare. Naruto, the struggling main character, goes from underdog to respectable ninja, gaining new skills and allies at the speed of light along the way. The pacing is smooth enough, and sentimental moments are balanced with comedy. Unlike some shows, Naruto has the ability to knuckle down and be serious when circumstances are dire, reserving humor for the times when the drama lapses. For the most part, at least. The show stumbles along this way for quite some time--a fair enough, if predictable, action/adventure plot. For the first few episodes, things are rocky, but the Zabuza arc and the following Chuunin exams fall squarely in the realm of "pretty darn good." The characters, too, are basic: they start off with their basic archetypes, and never really evolve any further. You have Naruto, energetic clown with hidden powers. Sasuke, dark, broody rival with hidden powers. Kakashi, the nonchalant teacher with hidden powers. Sakura, annoying young girl who doesn't have hidden powers, but thankfully, everyone around her does. There's nothing new or inventive here, but to fans of the genre--or new anime watchers--Naruto probably won't disappoint too much. At least, in as far as the plot goes, it won't. Because Naruto suffers from a single, crippling fault: the most inconsistent art and animation I have ever seen. The manga starts off pretty poorly drawn, and the anime doesn't even attempt to copy that style... but also never sets up a style of its own. The animators seem to work in shifts. Art and animation will be striking one episode, scraping the bottom of the barrel the next. Characters are prone to looking like completely different people from arc to arc, with palettes, frame rates, and detail constantly shifting. This is especially apparent, I feel, in Sasuke, whose ridiculous hair can never seem to settle on a single style or color. Being an action show, the animation steps up for battles... most of the time! The longer ones (lasting multiple episodes, dotted with needless monologues and flashbacks) start off good, but decline quickly: one of the most poorly animated scenes in the entire show happened during the main characters' first confrontation with the main villain, Orochimaru... Lee vs. Gaara started off beautiful, but in the concluding episode, everything turned blocking and jumpy... and the series' long-awaited final fight suffered from not only art and animation screw-ups, but random lighting changes. Often, detail and character design is sacrificed in leu of fluid movement. These glaring issues probably won't be so big to someone who hasn't seen a lot of anime before, but to veterans like myself, it was near painful. So, in conclusion? I like, love this anime. There is definitely no romance in this show. Seriously. Well maybe there's like 1 or 2 scenes, but thats about it. Seriously. Ok the series were very good. BUT WHY DOES THERE HAVE TO BE SOOOOOOO MANY FILLERS? WAAAAAA...!

Naruto is another in a long-line of popular shounen battle anime in its focus on the titular, simple-minded and obnoxious character desiring to become his village's leader through hard work and perseverance despite being a societal outcast because of being the human host for a demonic fox. Essentially, whatever typical shounen action anime tropes you can think of apply to much of what Naruto has to offer up from the titular character being a worst case of the simple-minded hero character than Dragon Ball's Goku, Sasuke being the revenge-seeking loner, Sakura the short-fused kunoichi with a single-minded interest in Sasuke, powerful sage Jiraiya being yet another dirty old man, and so forth. It also has some of the typical battle arc tropes of the genre such as Naruto and others seeking to grow stronger, a battle tournament, and a main villain attempting to wipe out the heroes throughout a good span of the series. The series does make its attempts at offering depth to its story and characters. It explores a number of the consequences that the ninja lifestyle has with affecting a number of characters that include the mental toll being a demonic host takes on Gaara and Orochimaru's quest for seeking knowledge on all ninja techniques leading him to continually manipulate others in his schemes. The development of Sasuke's character also leads to what is considered one of the franchise's best arcs with the Sasuke Retrieval arc when the orphaned Uchiha takes on his own plans to seek the revenge he wants. These more serious developments do lead to the mentioned obnoxious traits of the characters to be dialed back a bit as the series progresses, which leads it to actually be a little more engrossing as a result. Unfortunately like many titles of its ilk, Naruto does eventually find itself getting into filler arcs because of catching up with its manga source material. This especially gets bad after the end of the Sasuke Retrieval arc when the remaining 85 episodes of the series consist of nothing but filler thus leading the advancing plot to be dragged to an abrupt halt and be left incomplete until Naruto Shippuuden (TV) comes along. The fillers do make attempts at trying to develop some characters who otherwise didn't get much exposure in the series proper, some of this working well with Sakura and Hinata. But for the most part, the fillers are otherwise non-essential viewing thanks to their self-contained and anime-exclusive developments, and you could just as easily skip past them if you only wanted to watch the series up to the Sasuke Retrieval arc. In terms of artwork, scenery and character designs are reasonably detailed and well drawn though nothing out-of-the-ordinary for a 2000s anime. It makes use of a good number of animation shortcuts thanks to its long length, but has its occasional fluid movements in some of the anime's pivotal fights that include the climactic fight between Naruto and Sasuke during the Retrieval arc. Opening and ending musical tracks mostly milk use of J-rock and J-pop tracks, but the insert tracks consist of some catchy traditional beats with the use of drums, chanting, and instrumentation. While having its occasional moments of quality, Naruto still does ultimately suffer from a number of the typical pitfalls of the shounen action anime genre from its rehashing of the typical character and storyline elements of the genre, frequent use of animation shortcuts, and having a good helping of filler arcs. Not bad scores. Its an average of 5. Why isn't it at least a watch? Well I'll tell you. They should've added characters and action. Then you would see how I hate it. The thing I hate the most about this is the terrible voices. The most annoying voices next to One Piece are featured here. The childish always happy Naruto and the always mad or depressed red haired guy. Yeah I don't know the names. The only reason I know anything about the show is because of my friend. The action is also so repetitive and boring. It seems so cool if you see it for the first time, but you'll realise that its the same crap over and over. Also it has those annoying expressions. The smile and head scratch,the drop coming from the head, and that annoying Naruto smile. I'm not saying I hate it I'm saying that I strongly strongly strongly dislike it. I actually can't watch a full episode of it without saying something negative. Another bad thing about it is that it trys to be funny but really fails. The only thing I laught at is how bad the show is. Anyone want to send me negative emails go ahead but next to One Piece and tied with Bobobobobobo this is my least favorite anime. Too bad my review doesn't matter because people will watch it anyway.

This review is more towards the original japanese series. The rank is suited for the original, otherwise it would be "Avoid" for the english only dub.
Out of all the animes I have seen, this was the only series that I strictly watched from the beginning to the last televised episode in the japanese language. The Cartoon Network hack of the series is a blatant disregard to the first amendment (as far as the DVDs go, not the televised series). The televised series is justified to cut some of the inappropriate scenes. To translate that into DVD is an absolute travesty. Even with the "uncut" box set coming soon, it will not be 100% true to the series. However, back to the real uncut series, I was hooked into it from the start. I did read a few reviews and I thought it would be something childish like the US Pokemon series. Surprisingly enough, I was delighted that the series was more deeper than what I imagined it would be. The english dub is ok with exception of the Naruto Uzumaki character. That guy who does Naruto's english voice really sucks. That and the translation from japanese to english are really bad. Too make a long review short, just wait for the real series to come out. sure, it's a good series. and if you wanna read all the good things about it, read the other reviews. but. the one thing that IS NOT GOOD about this series, is the fighting. for a series so fighting oriented, they have absolute crap fighting. cool powers? sure. epic battles? sure. it's still, UTTER CRAP. if you've seen the likes of bebop, kenshin, escaflowne i don't know ANY OTHER FIGHTING ANIME, well...this just isn't up to par. it is the WORST part about this anime. i was very disappointed seeing how good everything else was, but still..enjoy the rest. and i haven't seen the movie, but i've heard that the fighting is better there.

Yes I would say a definite yes for this one. Naruto is an impulsive young man who has high hopes for himself and really what is wrong with that. I started watching this on cartoon network and I like the plot and I like the characters They have. This is on Saturday evening along with the Teen Titans, Transformers, ect... ect... Don't miss this one and this you can watch with your children. Young or old. I watch this on Saturday evening and they have added some more characters to the plot of Naruto. There is the teacher who keeps his one eye covered with a scarf and the girl and other guy in narutos class who have teamed up to go on a mission. Lots of Ninja in different ways and different powers. This anime keeps you watch and keeps you hanging. Well I'm back from my Christmas break and New Years Eve they had Naruto for 8 straight hours and finished with a new episode. I enjoyed watching it and taping it. Now we are into 2006 and I can hardly wait to see what will happen with Anime ad Manga. I was reading a Anaheim paper and they were talking how the comics are going to Manga also. A new year and new changes for Anime and Manga Yes. Naruto and the others have come back from there mission to help the bridge builder. They have come back tired but not defeated. Naruto and his ambitious personality for lack of a better word is ready to start another mission. However there is a new gang in town who are ready to challenge Naruto and the other two and Naruto is ready to meet their challeng. Believe it! Naruto and the three others along with many other groups are suppose to take a test. It is a written one and he is nervous and I can relate. If anyone of them gets a 0 they are all out of their trying for the next leader. Naruto is last left trying believe it. So last Saturday the tests are continuing only this time someone has come to give Naruto and his companions a hard lesson and they are worn out by the fight and only the girl remains still watching over them. Last Saturday it was the girls term for competion against each other and it ended up in a tie. You would think after the last test they went through they would be given a break. But now they all have to take a third test. when is this going to come to an end and is Naruto going to make it through the third test? more action will happen believe it. This test they all have to take gets more dangerous as time goes on and lets not not forget the teams who are serious about getting these scrolls and returning them. Suske has a new power and now there are others who are using their Chagra. So I'm not sure how this is going to end and who will make it through the test. Believe it. This last Saturday it was Narutos turn and he ended up the winner. Believe it. FYI I believe I read somewhere where nike is comming out with Naruto tennis shoes. I plan on looking for some and then buying them.

You know what? 'Naruto' isn't what i thought it was going to be, it turns out i really like it, it balances comedy very well with drama, and its very deep, not full-on violence and bloody-gore. Its got wondeful characters, very different, animation isnt bad at all, music goes very well with the scenes, the plot is original. Naruto is one of the very few 100+ episode animes that I can appreciate. Not only can I withstand it, but I absolutely adore it. Its story isn't boring and repetitive, its characters aren't stereotypical and overdone, and I can honestly say Naruto has taken a place in my heart. The cast, even to the most minor characters and villains, is well-balanced and refreshing. The animation is wonderfully smooth, and the story keeps you wanting to watch. If I could recommend any long anime series, Naruto would be the first one.

Naruto is my new favorite, I've only watched up to episode 70, but I've watched all those episodes back to back at least a dozen times. I just cannot get tired of this anime, it has a great mix of comedy, fights, interesting characters and a good story. For the basics, Naruto is an orphen who wants to become the best ninja in the village of hidden leaves and earn the title of Hokage. The problem is that he really isn't any good at first. And we find out that is the living vessel for a nine tailed fox demon that attacked the village of hidden leaves twelve years ago. Agreed with the rest, BoB (best of best) so far watched 78 episode and yes (again) it gets better and better. first lets talk about art. i think the style fits nicely with the over all story, so it's very fitting for me to put a 10 on the spot. of course most other catergories here are getting scores like that pervert hermit scoring naruto's sexy technique (hint: perfect 10) the episode story does however slack a bit when it comes to episodes overlapping way too much some are wasting 2-3 or more on retelling things happened on the previous episode... now i know many are necessary but if it would only be more brief it would rock! now some of the 'flashbacks' between conversations in the story did seem to be a bit over done, but i also noticed changes made in the later episodes as there are reduced amount of overlapping and overdue flashbacks. great job! character design, o man o man i cant wait to get to this part! whoever though of symbolizing naruto's face to the demon fox is a genius! the first time i looked at naruto i noticed it and i have to say this the one of the best thing every happened to naruto's charcter design! great job on other characters too. lots people seems to like kakashi alot. *two thumbs up* naruto is a great story you must see it and become one of us who's alrady liking this number one hyperactive and loudest ninja hahahah! b. Update: I've just seen episode 78 and I'm not lying when I say the serie is getting better and better. Some new characters are added (Kakashi's dog Pakkun for instance is hilarious) Right now the story is getting pretty tense. Another great moment is when the little frog tells his dad that he's being bullied "by that big guy over there." Also: I've started buying the manga, and I noticed that the pace is faster there, but that the story is mostly the same. Naruto, definitely the nr 1 loudest ninja out there! Love it or hate it, but it's a must see for sure. Downside to the anime is the slow pace of the story, especially at the start. I've seen 55 episodes and what happened? They protected a bridge, and went to the chuunin exam. Period. Sometimes it takes the best part of an episode before they finally start fighting. It's like 'the bold and the beautiful' all over. Then why bother, you ask? Because the serie is addicting, and gets better and better. The last 5 episodes are very promising. The music score enhances the mood, the art and animation are very good, especially the fighting scenes, and as for the characters ... I suspect they took a good lesson from Ranma 1/2 because each is a study of their own. I mean, just look at them! Only Sakura gets on my nerves. She's supposed to be the cute one (and I admit, she looks good), is bright but can't fight worth a damn. Somewhere at the end she is supposed to take a stand but only ends up biting the attacker in his arm. She didn't let go though, so she has a bit of pitbull-qualities but still ... Best character: Naruto Best fight: Hinata vs Neji. The Hyuuga open-hand combat style is awesome Best moment: Naruto entering the chuunin exam-building. Wow! Where to begin with all this?! I love Naruto, even if I have only read what is in Shonen Jump. Naruto sticks to the plot (*cough*Somewhat*cough*), keeps withing reason, even if I consider it partialy hentai (Ninja Centerfold, if that even counts), but if you grown-up out there have rushed to your child to ban him/her from Shonen Jump, PLEASE WAI! It isn't like all those other hanstai baka's that rush amung us and seep into our yuong minds, filling us with horrible images that -somehow- contribute to our future...wai never mind! ^^; haha didn't say that. ANYWAY...back to Naruto! IT'S VERY COOL! I would love to see the series appear on Fox Box or Toonami *crosses fingers* for sure! Oh well. I know nothing of the -tv- series. i can honestly say that this is da best anime ive ever seen...because i dont watch alot of anime..haha..anywayz this is da best ive seen because i think it has everything it needs to be a good anime..ive seen up to episodes 46 right now and just asking around people where i can download the next episodes..so..i can say that this anime is good because from beginning naruto is the worst ninja that there ever was...but even tho he is no good at being a ninja he is very persistant and never gives up..and along the way he gets stronger and stronger..stronger than even the people that were stronger than he was when he was a kid..this is a very funny anime with a lot of action..it gives u what is unexpected and than gets serious all of a sudden..there is not much of gore or blood...but it has very good morals and is sometimes sad..i think from episodes 5-17 are the best because it deals with Jounin Momochi Zabuza and Haku..and at episode 17 they both die..it really is sad..in conclusion i think u should download the series one by one as it gets released in the US..but i think the only flaw in this anime is da music..da music gets too repeatative thruout the fight scenes..and whens omething unexpected happens..the music is the only thing i would change...if i had a choice i would change the songs to something like the Rurouni Kenshin OVA music style..yea thats all i would change..this is AznStylez Signing Off.. peace out...OH AND DISFUNCTIONAL I WANNA KNO WHERE U DOWNLOAD NARUTO CUS IM ONLY AT EP46 AND I WANNA WATCH MORE!!!! You can relate to me if you think Rurouni Kenshin OVA (excellent in every way. The best you've seen) Cowboy Bebop (excellent. The story line was nicely done) Inuyasha (good, but got repetitive and at the same time you were entertained) Kiki's Delivery Service (a very "light hearted" story. i enjoyed it) .hack//SIGN (a waste of time) ----------- I LOVED it!! the first 10 episodes cracked me up. the story line was gr8. ani was fantastic. character design was one of the best. How can you not love the anime series Naruto, when the character Naruto is such an awesome one. He's the sort of character you can't help rooting for. He's extremely persistant in persuing his goal, which in his case is becoming Hokage. He's courageous and he never gives up. I think character traits like those, are the ones that make characters like Naruto and Inu Yasha, great main characters.
The animation's nice, with vibrant colors, and the character designs are nice too. The characters themselves are also likeable. The music's okay. I like the songs Haruka Kanata by Asian Kung-Fu Generation, Rocks by Hound Dog, and Viva Rock! by Orange Range. However, I hate the song Wind, with it's non-understandable 'Engrish' vocals. I found nothing wrong with this dub. Most of the actors cast in the Naruto dub have been in some of the best dubs I've heard. (Cowboy Bebop, Wolf's Rain, Ghost in the Shell: S.A.C.) They certainly aren't bad actors. The dub airs on Cartoon Network during a time which it can be viewed by children, so of course it's edited. I recommend buying the unedited boxed sets of Naruto by the seasons. I hope Seishi Kishimoto's manga, 666 Satan, gets animated as well. Last updated Tuesday, December 05 2006. I LOVE NARUTO! (the show, not the guy... im not that much like Hinata! -took like 3 Naruto quizies and I was Hinata.. ._. - ) If you wanna put it ppl-wise then.. I LOVE SASUKE! Kawaii Sasuke-kun ^_^ Heh.. when it comes to Sas, im more like Sakura lol :P.. well.. i love like everything about it! except the first opening and ending. (the 2nd OP n ED are awesome! .. kokoro wo sotto hiraite gyutto hiki yosetara (i like that part! and the whole song :P .. exccept the screaming is a lil.. not my type of music :P) well neways.. Im a great reviewer, i know! hehe. with my 2147483647 :D .. well im gonna like die if Epi 40 doesnt come out soon.. that gap between 38 & 39.. two weeks.. of wondering.. ughh.. and they only came out with one epi! well it was funny.. (yes im a girl, can you tell? I Love Sasuke!) at the end of 39.. my cuz started laughing @ the shirtless Sasuke .. and im like WHY ARE YOU LAUGHING? SASUKE WILL FEEL BAD! ;_; (I always do that) and llike yeah.. she was like its not sumthing u would expect.. WHY NOT? this is a SHONEN Anime, mLe! (mLe - Emily ~ my cuz) well later she was like.. it was really cute tho.. and im like then WHY WERE U LAUGHING??? and stuff hehe.. but it was. .except for the bloody letters >_< demo w.e.. if u didnt watch epi 39 yet.. that was like.. a SPOILER gomen ne! well neways.. I LOVE SASUKE!

one of the better if not the best ninja anime I have seen besides the comical ninku and ninja scroll. This animeis topnotched rest assure considering its still running in japan. Naruto is an excellent series for people of all ages. It's funny but still has an excellent storyline. So far, I've seen up to episode 36, which concerns the Chuunin exam. If at all possible, the series keeps getting better and better with every episode. Kakashi is awesome!

Naruto...its gotta be one of the funniest action comedies out there..plus the storyline is great. about trying to become Lord Hokage of his city(best shinobi there is).

Naruto is a new and still running show in japan. The series has a good combination of light funny sequences to serious and action packed fight sequences. Naruto is well written and animated, every episode leaves on a high note so its really diffucult not to watch the next episode. This is probably the best anime series I have ever watched. This series is for everyone, it contains a lot of humor and action as well. The animation is the best I have ever seen. Each episode ends up killing you wanting to know what will happen next. I have watched up until episode 34 and I am amazed by this production.
