Ikebukuro West Gate Park
(One episode watched):
It's hard to take anime series about crime and Japanese drug gangs seriously, because the crime over there is so tame in comparison to the US. Not a single gun appears in episode one of IWGP. The first case is wrapped up quickly with nothing more than someone being knocked unconscious as a climax (though it sounds like it will get more serious later). The G-Boys are sort of good vigilantes that bend the law to keep the city safe. I found IWGP to be very unremarkable. The characters' 'coolness' is about the only personality they have, and the 100% good guys versus 100% bad ones format was tiresome. In fact, the cheer leading for the selfless G-Boys and the good and loyal police of Ikebukuro felt like the sort of TV show that hasn't been made in the US for 50 years or so.
