To fans of shounen-ai/ yaoi anime, Gravitation was the anime that helped popularize the launch of later "boys love" TV anime titles that would pop up now and then like Junjou Romantica and Loveless. However beyond the latter and Antique Bakery, much of my exposure to "boys love" titles have consisted of subpar and angsty melodramas focused on "dominant" and "submissive" types of attractive male characters that made me not survive any further than the first few minutes of a show's first episode. Sadly, Gravitation follows this same mold to a great extent in its focus on Eiri and Shuiichi's developing relationship with each following the dominant and submissive roles respectively. Both characters got quite obnoxious with their personalities for me with Eiri's barely expressive demeanor and Shuuichi's energetic and intrusive behavior. The approach that the anime takes in their relationship developments is just as irritating where the plot keeps teeter-tottering their developments between going smoothly and strained on enough occasions throughout the show's run, which made me blow enough steam over why Shuuichi doesn't just jump ship from his angst-loaded lover having enough mood swings. To its credit, the series does at least provide decent fleshing-out of its prominent characters and provide some believable elements to the complications that arise when becoming a celebrity such as the paparazzi and handling the fast rise of fame acquired. However, these few positives elements aren't enough to outweigh my sheer annoyance of the main pairing of Gravitation as I could care less about neither their relationship nor characters because of how melodramatic they were. Unless you're a sap for any type of shounen-ai/ yaoi anime title, I wouldn't waste any time on Gravitation.

This anime revolves around Shuichi Shindou, his love for Yuki Eiri and his starting band 'Bad Luck' You know...Of all my years of watching anime, ever since I got into shounen-ai, this is probably the best one i've seen.

Gravitation was everything I was ever looking for in an anime, Its Funny, very sweet, got a hint of drama, and hell its even got singing.

It has very lovable characters and catchy music, I think when it comes to shounen-ai anime, this anime has yet to be beaten ^^, the plot is good, nice slow development, It balances comedy very well with drama.

The one and only downfall for this anime is probably when they sing the same song over and over again, but its a bonus for the people who want to learn it, so it that a good thing..or a bad thing?

I highly recommend this anime to any shounen-ai fans or yaoi fans, even if ur not, I still recommend, because I bought this anime and made my friends watch it, so far every single one has loved it. I would give this anime a 95% over 100%

When I first went to go rent this it wasn't available and then it was. So I watched it and the story plot was good and the characters were pleasing to the eye. There was one slight problem though and that was the boy from the band liked the guy. Oh well to each his own I always say. If this sort of thing offends you guy or woman I suggest you don't watch it. Those of you who just like anime I suggest the artwork and music and characters a plus.

I think this is my favourite anime. My friend told me it's great and when I finally saw it I found it excellent. There's a shounen-ai theme but it's definitely not yaoi. Besides that romance plot, gravitation is a hilarious and exciting story of a starting band "Bad Luck".
Characters in the series are interesting and eventually reveal to be not so stereotypical as they may seem in the first few episodes. Some of them are really lovable like the bands' guitarist, Hiro.
Gravitation has many wacky and comical moments but maybe there's just a little too much of that sometimes ruining a dramatic scene. (for example Shuichi turning in to a chibi once in a while). but there are spots where you just can't help but laugh.
I think the artwork is better than average and animation is quite good. There are some low points though. the same piece of animation is used on every concert scene.
Anyways, if you're ok with shounen-ai and you like j-rock this is a must see.

The art and animation make the story very colorful as well as the genre which Gravitation is placed in. This contains no real content of shounen ai, but has the sense of guy to guy "love".
It is a story about an adolescent boy with an establishing band who falls in love with a famous romance novelist. Their love grows throughout the story, which also creates a great storyline and plot of different trials and tribulations which pass through. "Will love conquer all?" type of deal, but slightly different.
If you are willing to see guys do things for eachother, this is a wonderful anime to get yourself started on enjoying this genre. It's also a laugh to watch. The series is delicate and yet humorous and enjoyable.

First of all, if you don't know that Gravitation is a shounen-ai anime, what planet have you been living on? If you have a problem with that sort of thing, steer clear!
The art and animation are nothing spectacular. The real jewels of Gravitation are in the supporting characters and the music that is featured by Shuichi's band, Bad Luck. If you love J-rock, this is the anime for you!
However, I should note something: though I like Gravitation in many ways, the main characters left a weird taste in my mouth. That is, Yuki is a cold-hearted bastard (though, when his past comes to light, you can see why he is the way he is) who only goes out on a date with Shuichi when threatened with a gun! This is comedy for lots of people. I, for one, prefer my romance a bit sappier, I suppose.
What's odd is that I felt more of an affinity to the supporting characters -- especially the members of the group Nittle Grasper -- than the main characters. To that end, I strongly recommend any shounen-ai fan to see this title. However, I can't recommend buying it. I didn't like it enough to buy it, but maybe you will.

Gravitation is one of the only animes that I *never* tire of. I find myself constantly coming back to read or watch it again and again. It's just that good.
It's a shounen ai/yaoi series, so there's obviously going to be a lot of homosexuality going on. If you're a fan of that sort of thing, this show will be a real treat. If not... who knows, you may end up liking it anyway.
The characters seem stereotypical upon first glance-- we have Shuichi, the hyper-bouncy-ambitious uke; Yuki, the sharp-tongued, cold seme; Hiro, the loyal friend... and those are just the three main characters. However, once you get into the series, you find that the characters are *far* from stereotypical. Some people may have hated the way Shuichi ruined a dramatic moment with a random outburst, or a moment of turning into a bouncy!chibi, but it was always a pleasant surprise to me, and always made me laugh. It's refreshing, because it makes you realize that, hey, no matter how bad things get, this is one guy that can get through them on his own. He *is* clingy and dependent (especially where Yuki is involved) but also ready to go out on his own if need be.
And then there's Yuki. He famous romance novelist who really seems to enjoy giving every story a sad ending. He's cold and mean to Shuichi (not really without reason, either) but also has his moments where you can tell he cares. Yuki never goes chibi in the anime, so be prepared for a LOT of that if you ever check out the manga (or the opposite effect if you're going from manga to anime). The manga is definitely more sporadic and crazed than the anime, but both have excellent character portrayal and plot development. Yuki's past, while stereotypically angsty, is still enough to touch the viewer and make them feel sorry for him-- and if not that, then at least understand why he is the way he is.
The show carries itself lightheartedly, but there are some heavy themes in here. Sometimes you go from happy to shocked and depressed so quickly that it hurts to think about it. This isn't a bad thing, in my opinion, because that means you're really getting into the show.
In any case, Gravitation is awesome-- a must see, and if you can get your hands on the manga (now being distributed by TokyoPop) I'd highly reccomend it. The anime is great, but the manga has so many other treats that a fan just can't miss out on.
Buy it if you can. It's worth it. I enjoyed every second of this show, and never get bored when I go to re-watch it. That's a rarity.

Gravitation is a down-to-the-dirt shounen ai, so if you aren't into that sort of thing I suggest you stay away. It's not like an anime with an alternate storyline, this is BASED on the two guys' love storys. So if that offends you, don't watch it. As for content--they kiss in the first episode, and the series gives you hints that they "did it", although NOTHING is shown. So it's safe in that department. Nothing else that'll bother people as far as I know.
Otherwise, this is a cute anime. It has cute momments where viewers squeal while Shuichi goes chibi, and momments where your angst-loving senses tingle. It has loveable characters, however Shuichi is a bit predictable and unoriginal. He's the bubbly, reckless, talkative, annoying and loveable main character. Hiro is loyal and a character you learn to love without hesitation as well.
Art is typical. Not good, not bad. Actually, it is a lot more on the 'good' side then 'bad'. And I'm not talking about just everyone's favorite pink-haired bubble-brain. Music is to die for, but the singer's outfits are questionable. If you aren't used to real J-Rock, then you might freak at the sight of Shuichi in a tight shirt showing quite plainly his midriff. Same goes for Ryuuichi during his concert. Or you might like it and swoon, it depends on the type of girl you are.
Basically, if you are in for a light-hearted, comical-angsty love story between two guys, go for it. It'll keep you sane all 13 episodes. A definate for yaoi fans.

Gravitation is one of my favorites, and for good reasons. I couldn't help but love almost everyone in this show! The characters are all great and fun to watch with a fantastic seiyuu cast. The love story between Yuki and Shuichi was very sweet in my opinion and it develops nicely. The animation is quite nice, a digital style but still very good. It also has nice artwork and character designs which you can probably give a lot of credit to Murakami Maki (who I now worship). The yaoi rating on this series is WAY too heavy though, it's only light shounen ai. But then I guess that's where fanfiction comes in right? -_^ The OST is fantastic too, since this anime is about rock bands BAD LUCK and Nittle Grasper it should be. Gravitation is a definitely something shounen ai fans must see and non-fans should also keep an open mind and try watching it too.

i first heard about gravitaion on this one review website, and then from that point on i searched all over the net for the complete series of it! when i did get it was alot better than i expected it to be.
the animation can be repetative at times like in alot of the concert senes but othere that that the animation was great! but by far the comedy was the best part! but i have to say that they over did it alittle like in the sad or serious parts... and then all of a sudden Shuuichi goes chibi! ya that was a bit anoying but it still made me laugh and feel sorry for them at the same time. though i think it is a comedy it does have some darker concepts, but i wont ruin the story. if you like comedy/love and don't mind shounen ai i recomend this!!!

Well i finally saw it . . . after searching for almost a year i found a girl on ebay selling gravtation the complete tv series! I was so excited when i won the bid . . . and was not disapponted when i finally watched it.
Gravitation really is a good series, one of the best Yaoi/Shonuen ai animes I have ever seen. The characters are very unique and their interactions with each other can bring you to hystarical laughter or heart felt tears. (okay I didn't really cry . . . but I was really sad!)
Mostly funny and light hearted, the series does touches on some very serious points, involving the characters' past abuses and more recent. Unfortuantely, my angst loving roots kept me from giving this series a 10 in storyline because of the use of comedy in moments of sarrow that ruined the drama to the point I didn't know how serious the moment was actually trying to be.
The only other thing about the series that struck me as unfortunate (but was actually pretty funny) was the use of the opening credit animation for almost ever single consert scene, even when the outfits didn't match. Oh well . . . *sigh* tight bugets will do that to ya. Besides these few goofy mistakes, I really liked Gravi. And I'm sure anyone who has a soft spot for a good love story, would like it as well.

Gravitation is my all time favorite series, I fell in love with it immediately and I just can't get enough, its based on a manga of the same name by Maki Murakami. This is the story of two high profile characters that fall in love and just happen to be men. The message of the seriesYou cant control fate.
Since this story is about a band you can bet that the highlight of it is the music, fast, upbeat J-rock at every turn. Nearly all of the songs are sung by fictitious band Mad Soldiers featuring the vocals of the adorable Kotani Kinya. There are a few songs that you'll hear repeatedly during the series so if you don't love the music be prepared to fast forward.
Overall the animation in this series is high quality and it's apparent after the first few episodes that the animation budget was relatively large; some characters rarely wear the same outfit twice. My only complaint about the animation is the concert stock footage, granted small changes are made once in a while but it's basically the same thing.
The story and humor is this series strongest asset. The characters in the story all seem normal but as the series goes on there personality quirks come out a little at a time and each new character is stranger than the last. Still the characters are endearing and its easy to become quite attached to them. Even when the tone of the series begins to change in the second half it never lets go of the comedy from the first half of the series.
Because this is a shounen ai series people who are squeamish about gay relationships might want to stay away but unlike many other shounen ai series Gravitation doesn't rely on it for viewer ship.
If you like shounen ai I'm almost certain you'll enjoy this. If you don't, its worth looking past the occasional yaoi scene and trying to enjoy the really good story about love.
