Ok, although I pump up Initial D, and yes you have to watch this to make it to the fourth stage, but the ending really bugged me, and I dunno, i didn't think the art was very good and I am a more let us watch a whole bunch of OVAs or TVseries kinda guy...

Initial D - Stage 3 - the movie
1 movie - about 60 minutes long
Takumi is back with a new desire to race and his "Akina 86" is roaring with the new engine that his father installed. Takumi goes back to Gunma to settle the score for his loss against Sudou Kyouichi and his LAN-EVO gang (Lancer Evolutions, four-wheel drive turbo boosted street cars.) Later, Takaumi is approached by another racer who attempts to recruit him for a special racing team called "Project D".
This is a continuation of the story of started in the earlier series, but it continues to pick up even more of an adult theme, (specifically in a scene in which a young lady is hit and threatened by a young tough and has to be rescued.)
If you have reached the point of seeing this movie, then you have already been thoroughly sucked into the series, and you will want to following along just to see were it will end up.

A nice continuation of Second Stage, while trying to improve the animation. The story by itself is enjoyable without the need to watch the previous series, but you will miss some tidbits that makes a 'guest appearance' in this movie.
For me, because I enjoyed the previous stages, I liked this movie (=BUY) which also helped concluded some stories from the previous series. For other, this might be not your first choice (=RENT) because the quality of the Handdrawn Animation looks so crude, compared with other titles. Of course, the use of Computer Generated graphics (a-la PSone's and PS2's GranTurismo games) made the racing scenes look extra cool!
