A Sister's All You Need dabbles into the challenges faced by three light novel writers attempting to become successful in their profession and also having their personality quirks that influence their writing and behavior with Itsuki a siscon, Nayuta a shameless pervert, and Haruto having a maid fetish. Basically, the series attempts to be a sort of comedy-drama featuring serious moments coming from the motivations of our three lead characters and the humor coming from the antics that ensure from their fetishes and those from some other characters they encounter at points throughout the anime's 12-episode run. The former offers its interesting moments of storytelling development depicting some of the challenges that come from being a light novel writer such as meeting deadlines, trying to get a feel for experiencing things for story ideas, and getting an anime or manga adaptation. It also explores the back stories of Itsuki and Nayuta with what led them to become writers. The comedy, I'd best say is cringe-worthy as it has a good number of perverted moments and scenes of non-detailed nudity with the characters as their fetishes play out, most uncomfortable being Itsuki's sister complex and illustrator Setsuna's ass fetish. Also not helping matters is like other adaptations of its ilk, the series is left open ended due to its source material being ongoing during the time of its airing.

In short, this series is a little tricky to recommend due to the comedy-drama attempt made as the various fetishes and perverted shenanigans seen fairly often throughout the run of A Sister's All You Need will not make it everyone's cup of tea, even with the title's occasional poignant moments exploring the light novel industry.

Unevaluated Stretch [series:3443#628]
(One episode watched):

A sister's all you need for--ugh, I don't want to go there. Although it could have been far more blatant and ugly, this show felt pretty much like an insult to my intelligence right from the start. It begins with protagonist Itsuki being awakened in his bed--it's unclear if the event is real or imagined--by a nude girl perched above him. Itsuki's supposed step-brother Chihiro looked so effeminate that I had a hard time believing that he wasn't actually a cross-dressing girl. And one of his female friends is mad to have sex with him. Clearly, sex will be the theme here, not any sort of interesting story. Although I don't hate the characters (perhaps because they don't even seem three-dimensional enough for that) I could not care less about them. I don't recall any laugh-worthy jokes, just the usual blather that passes for humor in shows like this. Neither funny, nor cool, nor intriguing, there was basically nothing to watch for. If I had been given a chance to salvage this show, I think I would have abandoned the half-hearted attempt at humor altogether (or perhaps concentrated all the effort into writing one or two modestly good jokes per episode) and tried to make at least the male and female protagonists detailed enough to be likeable, in part by making it clear that copulation is not the only thing they aspire to in life.
