This is where the DBZ films start to derail a bit in quality to a great extent. Tree of Might follows a plot structure similar to a number of later films in the series franchise where outside of dealing with movie-only baddie and his mooks, the series has the Z Fighters getting beaten to the point where they are on the brink of defeat before Goku milks some sort of convenient plot device to finish the "baddie of the film". It appears not much creative thought was put into setting up the film's plot here as Turles is merely a color swap of Goku with Saiyan armor and his very presence contradicts established canon for the series with Goku, Raditz, Nappa, and Vegeta being the only surviving Saiyans. Overall, one of the weaker films for the franchise thanks to what it starts up for the plot structure of many later DBZ films.
