(Two episodes watched):

Man, Japan must have the greatest number of wealthy people of any country in the world, because one of every four or five schoolgirls you meet in an anime will come from a well-off family. Anne-Happy (a wordplay on un-happy, apparently) was a modestly amusing show with a silly tone to it. One girl gets bitten by a dog and falls into a river; another has very weak bones and very low self-esteem. The premise was kind of amusing but I don't know if it (or the jokes it runs with) are good enough to last for an entire series. It sort of seemed to be relying on moe rather than actual humor as it's primary means of entertaining viewers. If some sort of ongoing plot came together, with a well defined goal to be reached, and we got to know the characters fairly well and were rooting for them, then everything might work out. But experience makes me doubt that that will happen. As a result, I was ambivalent about Anne-Happy and undecided about whether I would watch another episode. I did, the first half one day and the rest on another. For some reason the first half seemed modestly amusing while the second couldn't do much to make me laugh or even smile. Maybe I had gotten tired of it. At any rate, I have better things to do with my time than trade it for a couple of smile-but-not-laugh jokes.
