Meant as a pilot for IGPX -Immortal Grand Prix-, this micro-series differs from its later 26-episode series in that it is a battle-based competition instead of the mech-racing/ brawler style competition with the later TV anime. However beyond the mecha fighter gimmick, the series has little else going for it as the series is too short to flesh out its characters beyond them being simple character types and there is an attempt at a storyline regarding a weapons deal that Team Satomi makes with a rival team for their match, but this plot is never resolved due to the series wrapping up after its fifth episode. Visually, the show is decent having some unique mecha designs and fluid movement during the match between Team Satomi and Team Sledge Hammer, though the character designs are nothing worthwhile. In addition, the music used is rather bad with the same musical track reused for all five episodes and clashing rather poorly with the anime's battle premise. While it's nice to see how IGPX came to be thanks to this pilot, it definitely is lacking in engaging storytelling and features that could engage wide audiences.
