One day a gate to another world opened in Mikado City. This entities of the other world, called Neighbors, sent out an invasion force that overran the area surrounding the gate. Given the technological superiority of the Neighbors, the destruction of the city seemed only a matter of time. But then suddenly Border appeared in the town, an organization that researches the technology of the Neighbors to protect this side of the gate. In a short time they built a huge base and became established as the line of defense against the Neighbors. One day a student named Yuma transfers to the same middle-school class as Osamu, a teenager who belongs to Border. He has a weapon called Trigger that is only allowed to be possessed by people in Border, and claims to have come from beyond the gate.

(Half of one episode watched):

This opening episode didn't 'trigger' any significant interest within me about this show. It seems pretty stereotypical: weird monsters, immune to conventional weapons, from somewhere beyond our world; a select group of teenagers with special powers to fight them; fancy terms and gadgets; and, most stereotypical of all, uninteresting characters. I sometimes wondered if this had been meant as a children's show. Animation is crude as well. Before long I could see that no momentum whatsoever was building towards this becoming anything more than a simplistic and unambitious show. I was thoroughly tired and quit watching at about the halfway mark. I see from the synopsis that Yuma will turn out to be from the other side of the portal (or whatever), but I can't imagine a show that has begun in such a dull manner doing much with that shocking revelation. According to ANN, this series will have no less than fifty episodes, which is all the more reason not to sign on if it isn't absolutely thrilling me.
