This film sequel to the hit 2011 TV anime serves as a conclusion to the series where Jintan and pals recollect their experiences with Menma during the summer they reunite and encounter her spirit from the TV anime. On the plus side, the movie does devote time to focus on each member of the group of friends to get their thoughts of Menma and how she influenced them. This is a plus as the series was more focused on Menma and Jintan's interactions with each other. On the bad side though, this movie lacks much of the emotional punch that the TV anime provides as the movie reuses a good amount of animated footage from the TV anime that are more reminders of the emotions felt from key dramatic scenes that anything you would genuinely experience and the visuals to the series for new animated scenes are no different from the TV anime being gorgeous in scenic shots and having a good amount of fluid movement and good-looking character designs throughout. It might be worth a look if you're an AnoHana fan, but you won't be missing out on much here.
