The Third Ranma 1/2 Movie! Based off the Manga (Volume 29), the story revolves around a Phoenix that hatches on Kuno's head. With the Phoenix, it gives Kuno great power to finally defeat Ranma. However, Ranma isn't going to allow this to last as he tries his might to separate the Phoenix from Kuno.

[1 movie. This is the shortest of the three movies, 30 minutes, thus it was released by Viz as episode 9 of their Ranma 1/2 OAV set. But believe it or not, this movie did appear in Theaters in Japan and is not part of the OVA series.]

I have to say, it is a movie like this that makes me remember what I loved about Ranma 1/2 when I first started watching. Even though there are only thirty minutes to this movie, the writers managed to work in most all of the major supporting cast minus the hideous Happosai.

Basically, we have Kuno-senpai and the Pheonix vs. Ranma (both boy and girl), Akane, Ryoga, Ucchan, and Shampoo. I have to say that the results are pretty amusing and certainly enjoyable for Ranma fans. There's just something funny about a large, ugly bird attacking the gang while on top of Kuno's head.

Of all the Ranma titles I've seen, this one certainly has the best art and animation. As Mark mentioned, there is great attention to details here. Akana, Ukyo, Shampoo, Kasumi, and Nabiki have never looked so good.

Bottom line: a worthy but short movie in the Ranma 1/2 franchise with great art, good humor, and my favorite supporting characters.

I added this Title because most people don't realize that this is actually the Third Ranma Movie. It is sad to see that Viz video hides this fact by packaging it with the OVA Series.
Unlike the TV Series and even the OVA series, the Art, Animation, and Character Design are at there very best. You can tell that every little detail was put into this movie, even if it is only 30 minutes long.
You'll get only two reactions from this movie... either you'll love it or you'll wonder what the hell is going on. Nonetheless, it is a definite buy and a must in any Anime Collection.
