When aliens suddenly invade the world, Earth seems to be fighting a losing battle until Arikawa, one of the defense command staff, accidentally discovers a young man lying on a hill. Tests soon prove the impossible: this one teenager, Kakashi, has the power to defeat the attackers. Unfortunately, Kakashi has also lost his memory, and with it the knowledge of how to actually use his power. Moving Kakashi in with himself and his own commander, Shiro, Arikawa accidentally starts a strange triangle of emotions and relationships. A triangle that threatens the fate of the planet as Kakashi begins to question his own motivations.

This short dabbles into themes related to connection as it focuses on Kakashi growing conflicted over the role he has in being Earth's savior against alien threat. The connections story element is pretty much the prominent element of the story with Kakashi having companionship from Arikawa and Shiro to motivate him in his fight and Kakashi becomes weary from the repetitive routine of his duties. Other aspects of the title's premise such as why aliens are invading Earth and Kakashi's past are left unexplored, and the plot has some mind-boggling elements such as the whole "fight aliens one-on-one everyday" setup and the resolution to Kakashi's issues with his cell phone.

The visuals to This Boy Can Fight Aliens are quite the mixed bag. While scenery shots are pleasing on the eyes with vivid color and plenty of detail and there are nice implementations of surreal effects to show the issues facing Kakashi, the character designs are a bit on the crude and simple side with their details and the series doesn't have much to show for the alien fights Kakashi engages in for animation.

Overall, not sure how to feel about this one. While it seems to have a theme that it tries to endear its audience towards, some shoddy elements to its storytelling and crude animation style do hurt the experience of enjoying this to a great extent.
