These two OVA episodes are a continuation of the OVAs that came out throughout much of the 1990s for Black Jack. Black Jack Final retains the storytelling elements, depth and suspense you would find from the original OVAs, but with the visuals being better polished and detailed scenery and character designs. The first episode of this does give some depth to Pinoko's character with her origins as she is connected to a case involving Black Jack's patient. But like the previous OVAs, there still isn't much else told about Black Jack and Pinoko. The TV anime titles that came out in the 2000s might be able to provide fleshing out of the surgeon if this is an issue as I've yet to see them. Otherwise if you enjoyed the medical drama of the Black Jack OVA series from the 1990s, you're likely to get as much enjoyment out of these two OVA episodes.
