Moyashimon Returns

Five years is a long time to wait for the second season of a series. Still, I vaguely remembered Moyashimon as an amusing and informative show, and was pretty sure I'd watch this continuation as well. But whatever it was about the original series which I enjoyed, it doesn't really seem to have come back. I'm pretty sure that a person being brutally whipped (and the viewer being expected to laugh at it) wouldn't have appeared back then, for one thing. The show doesn't really bring us up to speed about what's going on. It is very informative technically, but pretty dull otherwise. The animation has changed somewhat, too. Going in, I pretty much took it for granted that I would watch this, but now I'm not so sure.
