During the
↗warring states period (~400BCE) of ancient China, in the great western state of Qin, two orphaned boys, Shin and Hyou, spend their days in strenuous training with the goal of one day being great military commanders. The turning point in their lives occurs when Hyou catches the eye of Minister Shou Bunkun, who gives him the opportunity to serve in the imperial palace.
Separated by these circumstances, Shin still stuggles on enduring life as a servant slave of his farming family. Suddenly a year later, Hyou reappears gravely wounded and persued by assassins. Hyou entrusts a map into the care of Shin and asks that he deliver a sword to the location. Following its direction, Shin encounters Sei, the young king of Qin, who would in later life be known as
↗Shikoutei (ShiHuangDi) - the first emperor of the Zhou dynasty ruling over a unified China and founder of a system of government that would rule China for almost two millennia.
