Watch the chibi cat-girl mascot of Gamers (a store in the Akihabara district of Tokyo) in her goofy (and very brief) adventures! Summary is not possible...

It is apparently from a show similiar to Liquid Television that brought together a bunch of very short shows. Each episode is 4-5 minutes long. There is no on going plot, each show tries to be a self contained gag.

TV series, 1999, 16 episodes (~5min each)
See also the Prequel Panyo Panyo Di Gi Charat and there is a related 52episode TV series called Di Gi Charat Nyo.

Hmmm look at all the buy ratings, why did I give it an avoid?

Because the English Dub SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!, I'd rather listen to Freddy Krueger run his nails down a blackboard than listen to the girl they picked for the Dub. Her tonal quality is terrible and the cast that supports them isn't all that much better (Well the Rabbit girl is OK). Another case of VA sleeping with the director bit again.

Go Watch Panyo Panyo, it's stupid and annoying but it's funny in English. I wish I could say the same for this. 3 years of waiting down the drain.

Another note, you cannot exit to the menu while the episode is playing. Stupid eh?

The japanese has got to be better but my daughter can't read subs fast enough. So this joins Amazing Nurse Nanako as 'Library Donation Material'.

Hi Everyone!
I searched the net for some reviews of DiGi Charat. After a short while, I was horrified to find out how many people are actually against this wonderful show! So to put it simply: Although I cannot define precisely, why I love it so much, it's just that. I didn't give 10 to any of the attributes just because it would seem too incredible, but I mean that it's all superb. Well, this on e won't beat other longer animes, but the advantage is that one's attention won't fade because of long watching times. The characters are truly schematic, but I believe that this will just focus the viewer's attention to the proper center of the story. Which leads me to mention something about the plot. Well, it's about some purely fictional and some very common occurences in every person's life. I am actually convinced that recognizing oneself in the behavior of the non-finger people (not focusing on the alien gals themselves) is the main source of enjoyment. Knowing that even these remote chara(c)ters have to deal with the same interpersonal conflicts. And I appreciate the way how the makers managed to put all those moods and relations between people in that very simply looking anime.
Think before you judge a non-obviously-quality anime. Oh, and

Di Gi Charat is so insane, it's hilarious. I love this series even though I gave it bad ratings, but the animation IS bad and look like little kid's drawings on purpose so ratings can't really evaluate the series. I think this stuff was great.
It's one of the funniest things I've ever seen, this, Excel Saga, and Kodomo no Omocha are probably the funniest anime you'll ever watch. The humor is really weird and random though, so if that's not really what you consider funny then you'll want to steer clear of Di Gi Charat. The music is mostly some nice j-pop songs and the character designs are so cute, it's kinda creepy.

Hmmm...after reading all of the "buy" ratings, I began to wonder if maybe I'd seen a different series. I watched it a second time, but I still couldn't get into it.

Basically, you have three chibi-type, UBER-KAWAII girls who are the center of these tiny episodes. A lot of people like Dejiko's use of the "word" "-nyo" at the end of every sentence. It got on my nerves for some reason. Other characters uses terms as well. The humor is there, but it didn't make me laugh. I did chuckle a couple of times but not that often. I tried but I couldn't get into the series.

Bottom line: It wasn't my kind of anime, but I'm in the minority, especially considering the number of sequels there are out there. ;-)

Aha, Di Gi Charact is...how to say...plainly hurting my intelligence. But well, I still like it for its stupidness and laziness. Most favored of all is dat ~nyo dat ~nyu dat ~pyo, dat ~myu (wait...this one is in panyo panyo).
The 3 min 16 series has nothing but pointless fights. However I found out a few very touching feelings in Ohanami, summer, and Christmas specials.

This anime has a contagious attention deficit hyper-disorder; the artists wouldn't spend more than 5 seconds drawing a character, the animators wouldn't spend more than 5 seconds on one scene, and the directors wouldn't spend more than 5 seconds coming up with the idea for an episode. The episodes are 3 minutes long, but by the 10-16th, you'll be wondering why they're being dragged out so much.
Did I mention that the characters are uber-cute?
In short, this is the fastest-paced anime ever. If it's ever brought to the United States (NOT!), the episodes will all arrive on 1 DVD, so I recommend buying that 1 DVD.

Wow. I mean wow! If you are looking for a hyper insane anime that makes absolutely no sense... this is the one to see! I love this kind of stuff. Ask me to rate the plot. What plot?
It's about two little alien girls that crash into a "planet". Dejiko (one of them) wnats to become a famous actress but doesn't have that much money. The two of them go to work at a shop for money. The people on this "planet" are basically... how should I say this... fingers? Dejiko also runs into her rival the "ghost" or Rabi en Rose.
The episodes are only about 4 minutes so that's why you'll usually get 16 in one tape. The summer and christmas specials are good as well. They have Pyo-chan the "evil" chracter of the show and Mr. Slug. However the episodes are a bit longer and have more of a plot, so if you're looking for the original randomness you'll get that but not as much as a thrill.

Di Gi Charat is by far, one of the most way out there shows ever created. With pretty much no real plot, the show still engages you for all three minutes with it's well written humor and inferior (by today's standards) animation.
The full length vocal songs were done well and one of the few minute episodes is a music video. How many anime shows can pull that off?
And lets not forget the characters, Dejiko and Puchiko, the protagonist idol singers from outer space; Rabi~en~Rose, the antagonist idol singer from outer space (who we all learn to grow and adore); Mr. Long Hair, the older gentleman who seems to be in love with Puchiko, and Takarou who is in love with Rabi~en~Rose and has some of the greatest dialog in the series, "She saved me from diarrea and I didn't have time to thank her." Oh! And Dejiko's two fans! Each character as memorable as the next.
To conclude, stop reading this review and get this show! All 16 episodes only take about an hour to watch and you'll be laughing and rolling on the floor every minute of it.

If you watch this, don't eat while doing so. You will probably choke as you laugh at the unbelievably funny "story", characters, and jokes, that run rampant in this series. The character designs are simple, but they are supposed to be. Characters such as Mr. Long-Hair make certain there is never a dull moment.(in fact there is never anything close to a dull moment). This laugh out loud show is a must buy. In terms of pure entertainment, nothing can match Di Gi Charat.

Buy this, watch this, you will be forever scarred. I am not the same for having watched Di Gi Charat multiple times.
Taking cuteness to a psychotic degree, Di Gi Charat follows three aliens(?) as they attempt to adjust on earth, and the people they mentally scar for life.
Improved markedly by the appearance of Rabi-en-Rose, Di Gi Charat flies along at a delightfully insane pace, with each episode lasting roughly 3 minutes. Along the way, interesting people are met, including Mr. Long Hair (a guy with an odd fixation for words), a neurotic 14 year old with the hots for Rabi-en-Rose, 2 Trekky-like fans, and a host of others.
The plot vaguely follows Digi-Chan in her quest to be an idol, and the adventures she has working in a videogame store, though I use the term "plot" very loosely here. Story isn't important here. Terrifying cuteness, Dice-haired girls, and bowel control jokes are, so sit back, grab the chips and prepare for the onslaught.
Di Gi Charat is a definite buy. You have to pay money for the tape, but the mental damage it causes is free!

Yea, I gave it poor numbers on the art and animation; but heck, they did it on purpose anyway-nyo. Comedy wise, they are just funny or silly, depending on your taste-nyo. I personally got a kick out of them-nyo.
If you like comedy that makes no sense, then this is for you-nyo.
