First Kiss Monogatari [Score: 60%] Drama: Low/Med (school girl's depression & jealousy) Comedy: None (no time) Action: None (no time) SciFi: None (plain old earth, normal people) Ecchi: Low/Med (one girl breast-fondling her classmate) Usually I'm easy to please given these categories, but this one wasn't a great success for me. One episode is awfully short for a drama... given this restriction the Story isn't that bad (for example, the "first kiss" isn't the climax, it's the very first scene of this OVA, the story starts from there), it's just too condensed and predictable at times. And the development of the Characters appears rushed as well. I especially disliked the Animation that looked like a low budget production (and more so for an OVA), with stills, odd walking and visible loops for certain movements. The Art is decent (actually the best part of the OVA); I don't remember anything about the Music. Minor fanservice elements didn't improve the ratings either. All in all it's okay for a one-time watch - but nothing more. Last updated Monday, April 09 2007.
