Burst Angel Prequel. Set between Episodes 14 and 1 (Yeah I know that's odd but you have to see it), Jo and Meg return to New York(?) after spending some time away from home. They try to find their old friends especially Shirley (who was adopted by Sam the cop in 14) but find out she has been seriously hurt by a serial killer. Jo and Meg decide to find the killer on their own. 2 Episode OVA

(One episode watched):

The atmosphere, the "coolness" (for lack of a better term) of Bakuretsu Tenshi was immediately apparent in this OVA. So was the fanservice. I'm glad the original OP song was retained, since it is the trademark of the TV series. I could be wrong, but it seemed to me that this story could just as easily be taking place after the TV series as before (Jo made a comment about "I thought you said we'd never return to this city", or something like that). Corruption among city government officials is still an ongoing theme, and Meg is still good at getting kidnapped, though she does put up a fight sometimes. The action sequences are pretty cool--even though I had no plans for them, I couldn't resist saving a couple of neat images. In a way, this case (episode one) is solved, but I doubt that the high ranking villains will be allowed to get off scot-free. The ED sequence consists largely of flashbacks to episode 14 of the TV series. All things considered, pretty good! Sometimes sequels or prequels lose a lot of the spirit of the shows they are based on, but that clearly will not be a problem here.

What a strange way to start out Burst Angel. It begins with the opening for Burst Angel 2. Jo is gone and Meg is a bad ass in a red coat. Everyone is older and a new commander is running the show. (Even the chef guy is older). Then POOF they switch to the prequel. I'm very confused.

Note to Stretch: Series takes place before Episode 1 because Jo is not wearing the trademark scarf and coat until the end of this episode
