He is also one of the few who contain "Innocence", a substance that allows him to kill Akuma and fight the Earl. I'm actually quite surprised I stuck with this for as long as I did considering I'm not the biggest fan of long-running shounen action titles. While I did eventually tire with how conventional a number of the show's plot elements felt, D Gray Man did at least make some effort to stick out of the norm a bit as Allen wasn't a dense, impulsive and battle-loving young hero and battle outcomes aren't always resolved by some contrived plot device as they fit in with whatever natural abilities or facts are revealed about any characters involved in said fight. Still though, the eccentric and over-the-top behavior of many Akuma and members of the Noah family made it hard for me to take them seriously as villains and a number of the arcs tended to ignore exploring the reasons behind a character's actions until the final episode(s) of it, typical of how plot developments get laid out in long-running shounen titles like Naruto and Meitantei Conan. While I give the series some credit for doing some developments a bit differently with the typical shounen action title formula, it still relies on some of the plot layouts too much which eventually tired me out after a while. I don't think I can put up with this for another 80 episodes, so I'm dropping this without a final review.

I first saw this in on Veoh and then started to read the Manga. I really like this one and the episodes are really good. I've started to watch more episodes this summer. The more I watch the more I like it. There are even those light moments ever now and then that are very enjoyable. When you get a chance and your into Manga. You will like this one and also the Anime.

Buy 9 9 9 10 8 6 Hashim [series:1464#2688]
Well I gotta say this was one hell of a series. I started watching it thinking it was 1 of those so-so animes to pass time, but as I got into it, and its story, which btw is very much like BLEACH, it was pretty cool. Art work and designs were great, and action sequences, were good, though I could give some suggestions :P. Comedy and drama were top notch (every 9 episodes was 1 filler comedy episode). So Ive gotten to episode 55, where the story suddenly picks up, after 10 or so fillers, and Im dying to see the next one. Personally, I'd rate this as a buy, cause I know people will like it. An excellent anime.

Rent 10 10 10 7 aoneish [series:1464#1615]
finished.

when watching this series it's important to keep in mind that it's a shounen. the story isn't really complicated, and it starts off pretty okay. things (like plot and pacing) are starting to disintegrate in later episodes with mostly filler making for boring episodes.

humor is funny but at times can be REALLY grating, but drama is pretty okay. magic and fighting are nothing too impressive. character design and artwork is pretty amazing. some contrived side plots and awkward execution but not too bad. so, there are plenty of things wrong with it, but not too bad a series.

UPDATE: these latest episodes are really starting to bring it. the angst is rolling in and the battles are getting more epic.

OP and ED is pretty awesome.

FINAL UPDATE: the series ended at an awkward point, having been caught up with the manga. disappointment, but it couldn't be helped i guess.
