Apparently a one-off film based on a sports manga series, Summer in Andalusia has enough time to tell its story focused on Spanish cyclist Pepe attempting to place first in a marathon that runs through his hometown and reflecting on his past there that led him to become a professional cyclist. The film does a great job devoting equal focus to the tense race Pepe undergoes in trying to place first and exploring his past through the conversations and observations made by those close to him and the other townsfolk in Andalusia. Even if one isn't necessarily interested in cycling, the film's storytelling is straight-forward enough in its focus where you can follow what is going on with the planning and discussions made throughout the marathon. There's enough story in this film to make it worth a watch, though it may have limited rewatchability since it was based on part of a manga series.
