Kindaichi Hajime is just an ordinary high school student, with a bit of loser reputation. It is only when the president of the school’s Mystery Research Club invites him to join the club to help solve the seven bloody mysteries of the school annex does Miyuki, his childhood friend, learn that her Hajime is also the grandson of one of Japan’s most famous detectives. Their adventures quickly prove to Miyuki that Hajime is someone who has inherited his family’s special sleuthing skills.

Kindaichi Shounen no Jikenbo (1997)
This series reminds me very much of Meitantei Conan , but with a teenager as the main character (as opposed to a kid). The plot is a bit more adult, with murders, bodies and evil deeds being involved in the first mystery (episodes 1 to 4). Episode 5 is been released.
