Onmyou Tai Senki

There are currently three (fan-sub) groups that are releasing this series. Episode eight has just been released.

Discounting the intro in which it is hinted that Riku was thrown forward 1000 years in time to be saved from attack (no, there is no well involved, yet), this is one of those combat trainer anime series. Riku finds a hand held summoning device, which calls forth a shikigami (a magical familiar) named the 'great white tiger Kogenta'. Riku and Kogenta confront and defeat a hostile shikigami to save Riku's grandfathers life.

By the second episode, Riku learns that he is a Toujinshi (one gifted in summoning) and the 'drive' that he holds is an ancient summoning device. Riku's device and his shikigami are both affiliated with the 'heaven style' clan, who are in a bitter conflict with the 'earth sytle' clan and have been for over a 1000 years (surprise..surprise?­) With his grandfather in a coma in the hospital, Riku has to find his own way to improve both his chi level and his abilities, to help his cute cat-like shikigami defeat his ever frequent opponents.

Riku is helped by one of his childhood friends, Momo-chan, who secretly has a crush on him, and by another middleschool classmate, Rina-chan, who has a priestess' ability to see spirits. Rina-chan has mistaken Kogenta for her kitten who died recently and she is chasing Riku around, wanting to play with Kogenta, which has Momo-chan worring about losing the love-love race to be the first to confess to Riku.
