If feudal Japan there exists many samurai. Each of them are striving to earn the title of Master of the Sword. Musashi is one who has probably earned it. His double swords flow like the wind and he can defeat any opponent. He wanders around the land looking for talented samurai to fight. While debating whether to protect a young lord, he sees a samurai eating in a small restuarant, Yakumo Mutsu. Later he sees Yakumo defeat 20 men without drawing his katana. Musashi decides there that Yakumo is the man he needs to fight to find out who is the best.
This epic series covers many years and the main character changes as the episodes progress. You meet a new character every few episodes (as each arc allows 15-20 years to pass) and new troubles. Basically though, each arc will contain a master of the Mutsu Enmei style (Bare handed no weapons) and how they use their skills to protect their lords and loves.
