I remember only a few examples for this: Seikai no Senki, Hachimitsu to Kuroba II, To Heart ~Remember My Memories~. Ore no Imouto did have a chance to become one of these but is most likely going downhill from here.

Of course it depends on what you consider a "season". Most 26 episodes series have their better part in the second half when the characters are established and the drama takes over. Shuffle! would be an extreme example for this.

How's the second season going downhill? It toned down its focus on Kirino's eroge obsessions and made her and Kyosuke less obnoxious as characters.

Speaking of which, how are we handling the three bonus episodes that come out in August for Oreimo 2: making a separate entry or count them as part of the TV series?

We had the same issue for the first season where we didn't create a separate entry and even included episode entries for the DVD episodes there.
So I suggest we do the same for the sequel, mostly because the material is (almost, i. e. except for the "Good End" in the first season) strictly sequential and doesn't call for a complex dependency structure with side stories etc. (which would then best be expressed by a Franchise entry with many separate anime entries).
My guess is that the end of the 2nd season will leave us hanging in the middle of nowhere anyway and the season would feel incomplete without the webcast episodes.

They could of course fool us and again offer two endings: A "good ending" in TV episode 13 and a "true ending" in the webcast release...

Doesn't seem it's going that way. I got a peek of what took place in the light novels and without spoiling anything, events up to the tenth volume have been adapted thus far and they're likely skipping ahead to the final volume for the final TV episode. The 11th volume's mostly a flashback covering how Kirino and Kyosuke's relationship became strained, which is what I imagine that the three bonus episodes will likely cover.

Early episodes of the series are a bit rough in the rendering of the rotoscoped animation, but the quality does gradually improve over the course of the series. Still, the choice of animation style was a controversial one for fans when it aired. So it won't be for everyone, just to give a heads up.

Please take them with a grain of sand though, it's not like I'd actually speak Japanese. But I made it a habit for me to check how much liberties the English translation of a series took, and whether the kanji of the original title contain additional information or even intentional ambiguities. (That's the remainder of having been a fan-subber years ago when I often had to compare several English translations in order to decide which one to rely upon for creating a German version.)

I hear that the Zuruckspulen story will bounce back and forth between two alternate realities, namely what would have happened if Jun had agreed to wind Shinku up, and if he hadn't. Still, if this alternate take is presented to us in the manner that episode one was, I'm not interested.

I watched .hack so long ago (10 years) that I had to reread my review to get much of an idea what I had concluded about it. I had forgotten so much that I didn't even grasp the similarity between the premises until you mentioned it. For some reason I usually prefer not to watch more than one episode of a show at a time, though that may indeed make it harder for me to keep track of the longterm plot.

Hmm... a number of continuations of series that didn't seem all that great to begin with... too many 'demon', 'vampire, and 'spirit' themes... a number of sports themes... Some for children only... Some totally absurd themes... Nothing really jumped out at me as a definite hit that I must watch. But no matter how lackluster a series seems at the beginning, I always find at least a handful of shows that turn out to be more fun than I had expected. 'Outbreak Company' might just work, if some wit and talent has been invested in it. Maybe 'Golden Age' too. 'Coppelion' might be interesting. The one show I know I'll be watching is Valvrave part 2.

After watching (parts of) episode 1 of about 20 new show of this season, I'll be collecting Coppelion (for the scenario, despite the plausibility issues), Golden Time (for being down-to-earth and character-driven), Kyoukai no Kanata (for the lead characters' chemistry), Non Non Biyori (for being a calm slice of life comedy), Ore no Nounai Sentakushi ga (for the scenario), and Strike the Blood (for possibly becoming another To Aru variant after episode 2). Not sure when I'll get the time to consistently watch and review any of these though.

It's a point– in my perfect world, yes, we'd be using macrons for the romanization, but... they're hard to type and hard to search for. Historically I think we've mostly used keyboard japanese, eg, vowel doubling and such, like Devil Doll did.

How difficult would it be to parse the terms in CAR's search input and pimp them up into a regular expression with alternatives for macrons and double resp. long Japanese vowels (i. e. "uu" => (uu|ū) and the like), so that any of the two input forms would find both spellings?

It would be doable– it'll require normalizing the unicode, something long due, and at the same time I'd use something to machine romanize the kanji and kana for search purposes...

Looks like my browser (Firefox) may be having some hiccups then as Internet Explorer displays the images without issue fine from my end.

May consider it. But at the same time, I'm getting close to the point where I'm gonna reduce my anime viewing load. Been getting harder over the past year to find anything that can grab my interest.

Maybe, when the thought to abandon a series occurs to me, I should watch one more episode just to be sure my initial impressions are correct.

Coppelion does have its fundamental flaws; I'm just hoping the character development may save the show. I've seen so many shows with a better second half already that I hate to give up early. I rather watch one mediocre show completely than abort three of them (which would frustrate me more).

...But since a new season is just a week or so away, I don't think I will restart any Fall series--unless maybe they are 24-26 episode ones. In the end, I found the fall season to be pretty mediocre, and only watched 7 series to the end (assuming I still don't abandon White Album 2, which seems very tiresome).

Looks like someone thoroughly shot my PC to pieces. ;-(
I noticed a modified cursor image - and I was on CAR when I became aware of it, that's why I thought it was from here.
Minutes later I found out that the cursor had changed in Windows as well. After trying a PC shutdown the machine (a new one, six weeks old) didn't even boot any more. (I'm on the old machine with the sporadic hard disk failures right now, repair of the new one is scheduled for monday.)

What is listed at Tokyo Tokoshan as the Lazy Lily x Mezashite fansub of Akuma no Riddle episode 1 is in fact an April Fool's joke which you may find amusing (I did).

Think I'm at the point where I'm gonna be cutting down on my anime viewing for a while. After breezing through whatever remains of my physical and digital stockpiles, I don't really have much else I wish to watch beyond what I'm currently watching for Spring titles.

Fun fact about DRAMAtical Murder, Stretch. The series is based on a yaoi eroge game. Might explain the shallowness you experienced with the title's first episode.

That would explain it. It seemed like the show was more concerned with parading beefcake for female viewers than telling much of a story.
