Boys Be - 10: Autumn: Embracing the Sleepless Night - SOLITARY CROSS

Title:Boys Be
Episode:10: Autumn: Embracing the Sleepless Night - SOLITARY CROSS
Synopsis
At night Kyoichi has strange dreams of air planes and crosses at an abandoned airport, and he wonders if they indicate his loneliness. Makoto has a simpler name for this feeling: "need girlfriend syndrome".
At his school's arts club Kyoichi meets Yokota-senpai who just completed a marvellous drawing [image1] of an inconspicuous female classmate whom he obviously adores - and suddenly Kyoichi becomes aware that he's his colleague at his part-time job. At the video shop where they work the two young artists and Makoto start to talk [image2]; despite being teased a "hottie" by Makoto, Yokota confesses he never even had a girlfriend before. Makoto tells Yokota about Kyoichi just having been dumped, so the two guys might take care of each other's wounds...
And in fact, they do. Kyoichi and Yokota soon become aware how similar their emotions are, and they start spending a lot of time together, alienating Makoto formidably [image3] who sees a weird romance between these two boys staring. But Kyoichi is actually encouraging Yokota [image4] to confess to the girl of his desire [image5] even though he might be turned down eventually... [image6]

[2005-04-22, Devil Doll]:
The real-movie scenes in this anime episode bother me to no end. If they can't animate this then why do they try to show-off with these scenes?
Actually I dislike most of this episode. Loneliness, okay - and some of Kyoichi's insights sounded reasonable to me. But why so many dreams and stuff? And then the yaoi touch of this story in combination with Makoto acting like a blithering idiot... Yoshiyuki, on the other hand, proves to be a sensible and considerate friend once again.
At least the final scene of this episode brings the series back "on track", so to say.
