Silent Mobius - 24: Hell Road

Title:Silent Mobius
Episode:24: Hell Road
Synopsis
Episode 24: HELL ROAD / 地獄への途 = Jigoku e no Michi = The Road to Hell (covering the second half of manga volume 10 and the beginning of volume 11)

The AMP team is in a shambles, with Katsumi a traitor and Yuki in a state of hysteria. Rally is summoned by Ganossa to meet him alone; she goes, despite knowing that this is in all likelihood a trap. And then another AMP member turns out not to be what she appeared to be.

Beware of spoilers!

Stretch:
How did Nami get abducted? Was Medium used to take control of her as well? Where has Grospoliner been all this time? I notice that Ganossa addresses Katsumi as "Medium", not by her name. I think I will have to go back to the technique of quoting cryptic lines:

"You will become an individual by the name of Rosa Cheyenne!" --Ganossa
So she's somehow not an individual as of yet? What is she then?

Devil Doll: She's Rally's little sister - at least this is what Ganossa repeated to Rosa over and over again throughout the whole series. Ganossa used every opportunity to emphasize the inferiority complex that Rosa already has, using her as mindless puppet against Rally, as seen in episode 24 (he could have used Medium on her but needs it for Katsumi). Ganossa is a human, Rally accepted her dual nature and chose to be a human as well (as humans have the strength to love), but Rosa - much like Katsumi until episode 20 - has never fully accepted her nature (which is a key concept in both series and movies), and as such has no source to get her identity from. Which she tried to get from killing her older sister who didn't follow her to Nemesis...

"Can you really shoot your own body?" --Lucifer Hawk
So the supercomputer in the Giga Room is somehow Lebia's "body"? (this reminded me of the scene in Evangelion where the Nerv computers were taken over. I wonder, which came first--Eva or Silent Mobius?).

Devil Doll: Lebia is a visionaire, able to dive into the cyberspace. To be able to do this, she has external body parts. One of it is the satellite above Tokyo (named Donald) that holds her main memory, and then there are Louie (think Arthur C. Clarke's 2001's black monolith, the AMP central computer), Dewie (a vaguely humanoid robot, only seen once in the series but appearing in the second movie) and Huey (her motorcycle that can talk in the manga, think Kino's Journey). Lebia is as much of a cyborg as Kiddy is, just in a different way.

Evangelion was written for the TV series in 1995; the Silent Möbius manga ran from 1989 to 1999 (see release dates here). Which means that the manga wasn't completed when the TV series aired in 1998... and the manga volumes 8-12 came after Evangelion.

"I bound myself to the contract of the planetary spirit of Nemesis" --Rally
Also:
"Rally gave her soul to Nemesis for me?" --Rosa
So Rally made some sort of deal with the Devil to attain salvation for her sister?

Devil Doll: Yes, even Rally has a weakness, and a skeleton in the cupboard because of it. We've seen that weakness a number of times when she watched those childhood photographs: She feels responsible for what became of Rosa.

Stretch: So, Ganossa has a "Curse of the King of Nemesis" on him? Are things going well for him or not? I'm getting mixed signals.

Devil Doll:
Which means that you're getting just the signals you're supposed to get at this very point. ;-)

How did Nami get abducted?
Remember Yuki returned from the hospital to her café where Lum Cheng and Nami were cleaning - and when Yuki looked at Nami she saw her as Lucifer Hawk for a split second (and collapsed because of this). Yuki saw it coming... as well as a number of other things.
Nami was abducted when Kiddy, Lebia and Lum Cheng were inside the Cyclotrone. When the three returned to the Simurgh in the elevator, Lebia wondered why the enemies didn't pursue them, and then feared: "On no! They might have beaten us to it!" Meaning: They might have attacked Nami and the Simurgh in the meantime. But when Nami answered the call, Lebia was relieved... Watch the scene when they board the Simurgh again - you won't see Nami's eyes! She was already replaced by then, and this "mimicry LH" (by the name of Bratieze) was able to enter the AMP headquarter (without Jesso reporting that! The LH prepared this operation very thoroughly when Rally had her hands full with defending her department against being shut down!), and again were one step ahead of the AMP). You see: The LH are still attacking individual AMP members - Nami in episode 23, Lebia and Rally in episode 24. Divide and conquer, so to say. Capture one chess piece at a time.

In the manga, Bratieze entered the AMP headquarter on a different way (by an arrogant personal mistake of another AMP member who then massively reproaches herself for this; actually this would explain one event of the TV series better).

Grospoliner has been in the AMP headquarter, at Rally's place - waiting for being wielded by Katsumi. (If you want to see more of Grospoliner, watch the movies.)

Correct, Ganossa addresses Katsumi as "Medium". Which explains why Rosa was denied the use of Medium whom she had in episode 19 of Silent Mobius already, and even attacked Rally with back then. Manga background: Medium had been sealed the same way as Grospoliner after the Silent Crisis war, but both seals were broken during the course of recent events (we've seen it for Grospoliner in episode 8 of Silent Mobius, we don't know exactly when or how it happened for Medium.)

As for the 30 seconds previews at the end of each episode, beware:
Preview for episode 25: "clean" in terms of spoilers

Episode 25 will be a seamless continuation of episode 24, and the climax of the whole series. (The Japanese episode title would be a huge spoiler already.)
