| Stretch: As I watched, the thought occured to me that this episode marked a vast improvement in the series to date. I was especially surprised when the grotesque, wounded Hawk spoke intelligently to Katsumi. It seemed to mark a delicious moral dilema, as all of a sudden we have some solid evidence that maybe the Hawks aren't so bad after all, and whether it is right to fight and kill them becomes questionable. Katsumi's dilema with Roy was well presented as well; the thought occured to me that one problem would be that any children of theirs would be 1/4 Hawk, and who's to say if they might not still have dormant powers? The show had really grabbed my attention and was going so well! ...and then it was all declared to be a dream, an illusion. What a letdown; it's as if the show's creators got scared because they found themselves doing such a superb job and decided to back off. In other words, I would have preffered if Katsumi's "dream" had in fact been reality. At least Roy (presumably) agreeing to help find Katsumi "without asking questions" makes sense now. The episode still seems a definite improvement in the series as a whole, but now a more modest improvement rather than a radical one. Devil Doll: I see why you are disappointed by Katsumi's "dream/illusion". But as Ganossa said: This is what might well happen. And it's not like Katsumi's worries about her nature will be over real soon... | |
