Ai Yori Aoshi - 12: Kiss

Title:Ai Yori Aoshi
Episode:12: Kiss
Synopsis
Continuing the events of the previous episode, Kaoru and Mayu are playing card games in her room [image1] until it's time to go to bed - and the girl insists on sharing her bed with the boy [image2]. Meanwhile, both Aoi and Miyabi are waiting for Kaoru's return - both are too worried to sleep.
Kaoru promises to stay with Mayu until she is asleep. He suddenly recognizes her huge stuffed rabbit and remembers the days when they first met four years ago, on a party of the corporation of Mayu's parents.
On the next day, Kaoru goes to university. He tries to call Aoi but her telephone is permanently in use (by Miyabi's business calls). Aoi happens to watch a TV commercial about a fish named "kisu" which is said to be "tasty" - and Aoi's fantasies become more troubled [image3]... but she decides she has to be strong in this situation.
When Kaoru and Taeko return from university, Taeko suddenly asks Kaoru about his first kiss [image4] - and Kaoru learns that for a girl this might mean more than a greeting.
At home, Kaoru wants to explain everything to Aoi. But before he gets a chance to do it, a drunk Tina [image5] wants him to kiss her, like he kissed that other girl... right in front of Aoi, who pretends not to listen but leaves the room.
Finally, Kaoru apologizes to Aoi and tries to explain what happened [image6].

In this episode we learn what kind of bond there is between Kaoru and his "little sister" Mayu who remembers the boy who showed her how wrong it would be of her to hate her parents when others don't even have (alive) parents at all.
Taeko makes Kaoru aware that she would be shocked if her boyfriend kissed another girl - one of the few scenes when she is doing something reasonable in this series. And even though Kaoru thinks he did nothing wrong he decides to confess to Aoi and apologize.
But when he returns, the events (basically triggered by Tina) might have caused a real crisis before he got a chance to do anything about it. It is Aoi's unlimited trust in her boy that saves the day - and how else could this episode (and the first half of this series) end but with the first 'real' kiss of our couple?
