Noir - 5: Les Soldats

Title:Noir
Episode:5: Les Soldats
Synopsis
Mirielle recieves a call from Vanel, who says he has some information and invites her to his house. Mirielle and Kirika both go, only to find that Vanel and his entire family have been murdered. Mirielle had asked Vanel to perform some research on Albert Dux, and she's sure this was why he was killed. She goes out alone to visit some old haunts of Vanel's, in search of a lead. A barkeeper gives her a bottle of scotch which Vanel left, marked "to our memories of St. Galen's Cathedral"--but Mirielle tells Kirika she has never been there. They notice an encoded set of directions marked on the label, leading them to suspect that Vanel uncovered something so important, and so frightening, that he felt he had to hide it...
Comments
Mirielle admits she had heard of the term "Noir" before Kirika first contacted her--a very old term regarding assasins which has no precise definition. She also reveals that when she was a child in Corsica her parents and family were murdered, and the ornate pocketwatch vanished until Kirika recently returned it. Whoever their opponents are, they are "everywhere", an "absolute presence" which "only a handful know exists". Finally, Kirika must be a long-time fan of European Cathedral architecture, knowing as much as she does!

(comment by Devil Doll: "noir" is the French word for "black" resp. "dark", very suitable for assassins of the night.)
