Title:Inuyasha
Episode:1: The Girl From the Future and the Boy Who Was Sealed Up
Synopsis
(Japanese Title: Toki o Koeta Shoujo to Fuuinsareta Shonen)

Kagome, a perky 15-year-old Japanese girl, discovers a portal to ancient Japan in an old dry well and is accidentally thrown back to that mythical age. There, she meets the high priestess of a local village, Kaede, whose sister Kikyou died fifty years ago while sealing the power of Inuyasha, a powerful half-demon who was searching for the legendary jewel, the Shikon no Tama. But, when a horrible centipede creature attacks the village claiming that Kagome has the Shikon no Tama (which was strangely hidden inside her body and removed from it by a bite from the creature), she is forced to remove the seal arrow holding Inuyasha and recieve his assistance. However, when Inuyasha demands the Shikon no Tama or her death by his claws, she begins to wonder if that was such a good idea.

Very good way to start off a series, in my opinion. Gets the ball rolling very quickly and even ends with a bit of suspense!

I agree with the other commentor. The writers do an excellent job at introducing the characters and establishing the base of the main story arc -- the Shikon no tama.
