| Yukari has a problem: The President of Treetop wants her parents' permission before hiring her, since she is still a minor. "Caroline" said she would get back to her, then fled from the office. Arashi and Isabella advise her to return home and ask for her parents' support--George is away somewhere. Yukari fears that if she goes home she might be prevented from seeing George anymore. Arashi has been angry at Miwako for keeping her meeting with Tokumori secret, but they make up. While they are "making up", Tokumori calls looking for Yukari. Arashi warns him not to "rat on her" to her parents or teachers. Yukari is uneasy about her inability to understand what George is thinking, and keeps her problem a secret. He is in a strangely bad mood at the atelier, and sends her away. Yukari gets a call from Tokumori, and agrees to meet him. She tells him about her intention to become a professional model. He has heard about how she is living with a boyfriend, and asks whether this person really cares about her. He also tells her that her mother has placed her on sick leave, but she's liable to be expelled if the school staff gets wise to what's really going on. Yukari thanks him for what he's done for her, but insists that everything is fine and there is no reason to worry. She returns to George's place, and is surprised to find someone she knows already there... |
| Am I detecting a trend in anime romances told from the girl's point of view, in which the girl must choose between a straight-laced, respectable guy and an unconventional, devil-may-care type? That seemed to be the case in Peach Girl, and I wonder if Yukari will make the same choice here. She also has to choose whether she will give top priority to her boyfriend, George, or to her career as a model. She seems to completely reverse her previous decision in this episode, which surprised me--perhaps a sign of the compression this story underwent while being converted from manga to anime. |
