I've been an anime fan for over 11 years now and have seen plenty of anime titles, both past and present. I'm a big fan of anime movies coming from Studio Ghibli and Satoshi Kon who have played a major role in giving anime some sense of recognition in America, even if it never gains full mainstream status.

I'm mostly a fan of drama, comedy, and romance anime though I can be swayed into watching action anime if it features some elements of the genres that I take interest in. I'm pretty open to watching just about anything as long as there's enough substance to a title for me to take interest in it. If things like violence, gore, fan service, or moe are overused solely for shock value, forced fan adoration, and titillation, then I won't be latching onto an anime title for too long.

As for the "Rainy Day" pile I have on me, these are anime available at some point (past or present) within the Region 1 video market I chose to stockpile for watch in case I am inching close to my monthly data cap. But with the increasing difficulty I'm having of finding unlicensed older titles worth the time to watch, I've decided to resort to my stockpile to wow me over for anime while anything I find online for now will be for whatever Japan is currently airing.

Bakuman
Rent Moritaka Mashiro, a junior high school student, content to live out a relatively normal life as any other does, is persuaded by his classmate, Akito Takagi, to become an aspiring mangaka when the latter realizes his natural talent as an artist. However, Moritaka is reluctant to pursue his dream as his uncle, once a mangaka with his own serializations, died from overwork trying to regain his lost status. With Akito's help, Takagi gets another classmate and his school crush, Azuki Miho, who is an aspiring voice actress, to commit to voice in the anime adaptation of their future manga if such a thing ever comes about. However, Mashiro also proposes to Azuki, who surprisingly accepts only on the condition she will marry him when both of them have achieved their dreams. With a goal set before him, Mashiro begins a long and struggling path to become a famous mangaka.

Bakuman 2

Chaos;Head
Rent Nishijo Takumi is your typical ↗NEET. He lives on top of a building inside of a ocean container box. Inside is his computer, bottles of soda, and tons of action figures from his favorite anime girl Seira. That's his whole life. One day while chatting online with his friend 'Grim', another user named 'Shogun' starts messaging him. He sends Takumi a bunch of links to pictures of people being murdered. Later that evening, Takumi walks down a hallway and sees the murder being commited by a pink haired girl who turns and says, "I wanted to see you". Troubled, he runs away carrying one of her daggers. The next day at school he sits down and his friends greet him. His female friend who has pink hair is the same girl he saw that night...

Comic Party
Watch One day, Sendo Kazuki and Takase Mizuki find themselves hijacked by their eccentric friend Kuhonbutsu Taishi (who calls them "My brother and sister") into going to a strange, crowded, noisy and smelly place--a doujinshi convention. (Think of this as a sort of Otaku no Video that deals with doujinshi rather than anime.)

Cosplay Complex
Watch Chako and her friends can't wait for the Cosplay World Series! Their East Oizuki Academy team has earned quite a reputation throughout Japan, and she knows they can also win the world championship. Only one thing stands in their way--a lack of interest. The team doesn't have an adult sponsor, and can't keep up enrollment. As a result, they must fight rivals, find new members who want more than to see the girls disrobe, and learn to change costumes in a flash.

Genshiken
Rent Kanji Sasahara is a first year college student. He watches a lot of Anime and reads Manga. He was thinking of joining the Manga club when another student Makoto Kohsaka strikes up a conversation with them about joining. Kanji is embarrassed and leaves. Later he visits the Society for the Study of Modern Visual Culture (Aka a bunch of Otaku's). While alone in the club room, he looks up the skirt of a Haruka doll (KGNE), and is caught red handed flipping through their porn collection. He is so mortified, but finds out it was a form of Hazing and the other guys were just waiting nearby for the president to catch him in the 'act'!. "Now that we know we're the same kind" Genshiken member Madarame says, "how about you join us?"

The manga club then pawns off one of its troublesome female members, Ogiue-san. She states she hates otaku, especially female otaku with their "homo" obsession for yaoi and shounen ai materials.
