I've been into anime since about 1998. In some ways I'm easy to please; I don't give out many "avoid" recommendations. As long as a story has a few redeeming features, I figure there's no reason to tell people to leave the room if it's playing. On the other hand, I don't usually buy things unless I want to watch them over and over, so I don't give many "buy" ratings either. This means you'll see lots of "rent" and "watch" recommendations from me. The main difference between a "rent" and a "watch" is whether I think people should go out of their way to track something down.

Character and setting are more important to me than plot. I don't think there really are any totally new plots. But there are new characters, and when you put new characters through a standard plot, the plot becomes new all over again. An interesting "world" is also a big plus for me.

Unless I mention otherwise in a review, I'll be talking about the subtitled versions. I enjoy both shounen and shoujo. I like most kinds of stories, but especially comedy and fantasy. I'm not a horror fan, but the friend who got me into anime is, so I wind up seeing more of it than I want sometimes!
