Dark: (Style) Titles that are dismal or gloomy in nature qualify for this category.
Violent: (Objectionable Content) Titles that include as an important part of their content excessive displays of cruelty, blood and gore. Any of the classical 'slasher' films would qualify for this keyword. The series Black Lagoon would be a good example; as many of its chapters involve killer lolis, chainsaw mercenaries and flying body parts.
Shounen Ai: (Objectionable Content) (↗shounen ↗ai (愛) = "Boy Love") These are titles in which two male characters are involved in a homosexual relationship or in which one is hinted at. Mainly you find these in Shoujo manga but some anime titles have them as well. The term differs from "Yaoi" in that it usually implies that there will not be on-screen sex. "Shinigami", a detective of sorts that investigates strange deaths, or lack there of, in the human world. These Shinigami live in an exact mirror image world of Japan (called Meifu) where they each watch over a specific area. (Although each country has its own division and shinigami.)Very often, they arrive in the human world with the sole intention of taking a soul to Meifu. Each area is covered by 2 Shinigami's (18 in total), mainly because Shinigami's decisions have been known to wavor and thus each Shinigami is to, unofficially, watch each other. |
