ANN is reporting that a sequel to AFRO SAMURAI is in the works and scheduled for 2009. Animation by GONZO, with Samuel L. Jackson as the executive producer and the voice of the title character. Both Lucy Liu (Charlie's Angels, Kill Bill) and Mark Hamill (Star Wars) have been recruited to provide voices.

During a futuristic age of war and oppression, The small farming village of Kanna is tormented by a large force of mechanized bandits. Kept alive for the sole purpose of growing rice only to have it stolen by the bandits year after year. The village grows deseperate and decides the only way to ensure their survival is to hire a group of samurai. So a trio of villagers set out for the merchant city of Kouga in order to in order to achieve this goal. So begins the epic tale of a small village and their struggle for survival, And the chosen warriors brave enough to answer their call.
