Self-explanatory. High school (grades 10-12) should play a major role in the title. Azumanga Daioh is an excellent example of this category. A typical High school series will include a Sports Festival, a Cultural Festival, and a school Trip.

Clannad is set in a high-school located in some Japanese town. Okazaki Tomoya is a third-year student who doesn't take his studies seriously. Always late for class, he's seen as a delinquent by the rest of his classmates who are busy preparing for their entrance examinations. Needless to say, he hasn't too many close friends either.

Noe Isrugi a very strange girl who keeps giving him chicken feed. And finally there is Aiko, the girl who works in a local ramen shop and appears to like him, but her problem is she is the unannounced girl friend of his best friend. At least 2 of them appear to have the issue of not being able to cry (hence the True Tears name).
