Tooru Honda is a 16-year old girl living in a tent in the nearby mountain woods. Her father died when she was very young and her mother had just recently died in a car accident. Not wanting to put her grandfather (on her father's side) out while his house is being renovated, she told him she would stay with friends so no one knows she's living in a tent. In the meantime, she goes to school and works her part-time job on a cleaning crew so that she can pay her high school tuition (in Japan, high school is like college in the US). |

But this school holds a secret, a long time ago it was haunted by a bunch of ghosts, Satsuki's mother (a Miko) sealed them all away into the trees in the hills above, but developers have destroyed all the trees, freeing the ghosts. They return to the only place they called home, the elementary school, and to take revenge on the girl who bears the name and face of the person who banished them, Satsuki. |

High School student Shinichi Kudou was a virtual Sherlock Holmes, who the Tokyo police regularly turned to for help in solving baffling cases. But then he accidentally learned too much for his own good about a murder case, and was caught by the villains. They poisoned him and left him for dead, but the "poison" had an unexpected effect--rather than killing him, it caused Shinichi to revert to the appearance of an elementary school boy!
