The not extremely bright schoolgirl Mayumi Takahashi is in trouble. She attends the "Spartan Institute of Higher Education", run by Principal "Big Toenail of Satan". This eccentric man's school holds it's students to the highest possible standards and has very little tolerance for those who fail to conform. It employs a series of "punishment teachers", whose only task is to degrade and humiliate students with lackluster grades in the most perverted manner imaginable. Mayumi would be completely helpless if it were not for the mysterious vigilante Kekko Kamen, who is identifiable by her distinctive red mask, glooves, boots--and that's about all. During a heavy downpour, a girl is running away from a boy. She crosses a street, not seeing the oncoming truck. But the boy does, and pushes her away...bloodily injuring his hand. Frightened, she runs away from the scene.Eight years later this girl (whose name is Takeshita Yumi) has grown up to become a rookie police officer. On her first day on duty, the overeager Yumi hears a scream and finds a purse-snatching victim. She sees a heavyset man running away and gives chase, catches him and with her strength and combat skills, flattens him. Not only has she caught the wrong guy but the scar on his hand shows that he's Ichidaiji Tohru, the young man who saved her so many years ago and now is an illusionist by trade. Ushio thinks his father's talk of an ancient ancestor impaling a demon on an altar stone with the legendary "Beast Spear" is nuts, until he finds the monster in his own basement! Ushio knows it's best to let sleeping dogs lie, but the accidental release of the monster's evil energies draws other demons to his hometown. To save his friends and family from the invading spirits, Ushio is forced to release the monster (which he dubs "Tora") from it's captivity. Since Tora has already vowed to devour him, his only hope is that he can use the Beast Spear to keep Tora in line long enough to save the city--and himself. |
