Adventure: (Genre) Titles where the characters are involved in an undertaking usually involving danger and unknown risks.
Tragedy: (Genre) Animes of this type have tragic events as an important part of the story, and usually will show how the characters are dealing with the consequences of that tragedy (more or less successfully). This doesn't necessarily mean the story cannot have a happy ending as the tragedy might occur during the first episodes of even before story begins; as such this category information need not be a spoiler (unless the tragedy were to be a surprise for the audience in a mystery-style show).

Fifty years of war between the Great Eastern Federation and Europa - now merged as Eurasia - have taken their toll on planet Earth. As a result of the use of biological, chemical and nuclear weapons, much of Earth has become uninhabitable and people have become prey to new diseases. Professor Azuma's "neo-cell" project, which is supposed to be the answer to mankinds hardships, becomes a nightmare come true when mutants spawned from the experiment escape and declare war on the human race. The schoolboy has just lost a kendo fight in his dojo, and the girl he intended to impress walked away with his victorious opponent who even gave him a lecture after their fight. Depressed he retreats to the industry sector of his hometown, climbing up an old factory chimney, the "tower of courage" for his gang. To his surprise he meets a strange girl with blue hair and blue eyes up there... but then time stops for a moment - and shortly after this, he and the girl are attacked by huge mechas. Moments later he finds himself in a place he's never seen before, and his nightmare begins in a fortress named Hellywood where all values of humanity appear to be lost. And yet, Shu tries to plead for his ideals... |
