This is a sub-genre of the romantic-comedy genre. To qualify, you have to have a single, dateless, nice guy who suddenly finds himself surrounded by a bunch of hot girls/women who are interested or attracted to him to varying degrees. The male lead may also live with many of these girls.

Tasuke-kun, an ordinary teenager who while living alone, finds himself in the company of two cute Shugotten (spirits) who have taken it upon themselves to ‘protect’ him. In addition to living with the two spirits, Ruuan (the wood spirit) has somehow become his homeroom teacher at middle school and Shaorin (a spirit of the moon) is now a fellow student in his homeroom class. If only to complicate the situation, most of Tasuke's classmates have set their romantic interests on either him or his spirit companions. And then his father sends him a special gift from China, which included a magic fan with yet another spirit. But Tasuke has always harbored special feelings for Shaorin and slowly their friendship grows amidst the strange magic and chaos of their lives. .

Tsuchimi Rin (Tsucchi, Rin-kun) is your typical high school student. He lives with his 'adopted' sister Kaede who waits on him hand and foot. She is very popular at school except she only has eyes for Rin. One day Rin-kun's class gets two new transfer students - two pretty girls named Nerine (Rin-chan) and Lisianthus (Sia) who also happen to be Princesses of the God and Demon worlds. (About 10 years ago a mysterious gate opened between Heaven and Hell and allowed Gods and Demons to come to Earth. They have been here so long that they even attend normal school and try to fit in with the populace.) Their fathers go up to Rin-kun and tell him that the girls have chosen HIM as their fiancee and whichever girl he chooses will make him the King of the Demon/God world.
