STEAMPUNK - (
Genre) Considered a subgenre of fantasy and speculative fiction (SCIFI), STEAMPUNK generally refers to stories which are based on English Victorian era technology in which steam was the primary power source or use Victorian era values as a reference point, and will often have a futuristic spin as part of the story. The novels of H. G. Wells and Jules Verne's are cited as classic examples of this high-tech innovation in a low-tech world genre. The term itself is originates as a retro-counterspin to the popular CYBERPUNK genre. See
