Comedy: (Genre) Self-explanatory - a title that primarily makes you laugh.
Dating Sim Spinoff: (Type subgenre) Usually an anime starts out its life as a manga but a Dating Sim can also become an anime. Dating sims follow a set choice or path and feature Bad, Good, and True Endings. Most of the Dating Sims though are ↗ero-based an usually involve the main character trying to 'date' each of the girls in the game; the anime usually picks one of the harem of girls available and plays her 'true ending' out. Other dating sims are not usually Ero in nature but still follow the other rules. Note that even an anime based on an Ero game may not contain any erotic scenes in many cases. Modern: (Setting) These are titles which have a modern feel to them; the story takes place in the present day (of the creation of this anime), give or take a few years.
Fan Service: (Objectionable Content) This is a term coined to identify things like jiggling breasts, cleavage shots, panty shots, bra shots, closeup shots of women's breast, legs, butt, etc., and mild nudity all for the purposes of "servicing" the audience. The term has a second meaning covering things like massive action sequences, explosions, fights, etc., but it mostly refers to the first meaning.

Watch | This anime opens with Riku running around a high school with Cat Ears on (NekoMimi). All the boys appear to be chasing him. Some are wearing special ears and some aren't. Flashback to the past. Riku has just transfered into a new high school and gets partnered up with the local beauty Saiyuri Amamiya. Later in the library he helps out a young girl Mina with finding a book. Much later he passes another girl, Tsukasa, who is quite impressed by his physical stamina. Finally, he ends up outside feeding a baby chicken that seems to be EXTREMELY pissed off. |

Watch | Sunao Konoe has transferred to a new school. Dreaming of being an actor all her life, she is trying to form a new theater/drama club there. But she runs into all kinds of problems, most notably with the arrogant "princess" Kiriya Erika who's a rich family's daughter and undisputed head of the school council (and would have to give her the license to form a new club) and her bunch of friends, plus the "kendo girl" Kurogane Otome who's the discipline enforcer of the school council. And to her surprise Sunao meets her childhood friend Tsushima Leo at this school again who had been the only one to support her with her theater project at school ten years ago while at the same time nicknaming her "radish" (which has a side meaning of "bad actor")... but Sunao is a dedicated girl and will do whatever it takes to form her theater club, with Otome soon beginning to support her. And slowly but surely she earns the respect of those who considered her a mere theater freak at first... |
