Follow the daily life of Binchou-tan, a chibi-sized girl who lives alone in an isolated, old house in the mountains. While she may be poor (the house she lives in has holes in the roof and is very old, she has an old sheet with a hole in it, and doesn't own many possessions), Binchou-tan lives life to the fullest. She gets up, gathers what she needs from the nearby fields, and pays for transportation from various animals with seeds, accorns, etc. Rice is the only thing Binchou-tan cannot provide for herself, so whenever she needs a fresh supply, she must travel to the nearby (1930's-style) village to do odd jobs in order to obtain rice. This is the a look at Binchou-tan's life on a day-to-day basis and that of her friends.

On a walk home, Keroro and Fuyuki stumble upon a hidden shrine. Upon exploring it, they end up causing damage to a shining orb within it. That night, Keroro finds a big X on his face, which causes him considerable distraught. The next morning, a breaking news story shows that the X has spread to more than just Keroro, giving the people of Tokyo telepathic abilities, including the Hinata Household and the Keroro Platoon. High School student Shinichi Kudou was a virtual Sherlock Holmes, who the Tokyo police regularly turned to for help in solving baffling cases. But then he accidentally learned too much for his own good about a murder case, and was caught by the villains. They poisoned him and left him for dead, but the "poison" had an unexpected effect--rather than killing him, it caused Shinichi to revert to the appearance of an elementary school boy! He retains his skills as a brilliant detective, however, and since that incident has managed to become adopted by his former girlfriend and her less-than-exemplary private detective father. With them he carries on his passion, and searches for clues to a possible antidote to the poison he was forced to swallow.
