This is a genre of anime which features mechanical fighting machines. Often these take the form of giant robots but this isn't the only form mecha can take. There are tons of examples of mecha titles considering the popularity of the series. Blue Gender, Shin Seiki Evangelion, Tenkuu no Escaflowne, and Bubblegum Crisis Tokyo 2040 are all classic mecha titles.

Fourteen years later, a young girl named Arika Yumemiya comes to the city to attend Garderobe Academy. She meets Nina Wang, who's desperate to be rid of this bumpkin, but after rescuing the young princess together, Nina learns there's much more to Arika than meets the eye, as does her father. What is the stone Arika wears around her neck? What are the Slaves? What are the Otome? Can Nina become an Otome?

A thousand years have passed since the disaster that devastated the planet Zi. Both the land and people have spent the time recovering from the damage. Ruuji lives in an isolated costal village, where together with his father and the other villagers, they have been working hard to salvage and recover an ancient sunken Zoid. On the day that they refloat the Liger Zoid, four enemy dinosour Bio-Zoids appear and attack the village with the intent of taking control of towering generator, an ancient artifact which supports the fertility of the land and assures the success of the village. Ruuji tumbles into the cockpit of the Liger and succeeds in awaking it. The teenaged hero struggles to fight off the Bio-Zoids, when the village’s sacred sword is summoned and fuses with the Liger. The forty-foot long sacred-sword is the primary weapon of the Liger and is composed of ZI-Metal, the only type of weapon that can defeat the Bio-Zoids. While fighting Bio-Zoids, two other friendly Zoids appear to help and together they defeat the enemy. But Ruuji’s adventures in his Musame Liger have just begun....
