This is a genre of anime which features mechanical fighting machines. Often these take the form of giant robots but this isn't the only form mecha can take. There are tons of examples of mecha titles considering the popularity of the series. Blue Gender, Shin Seiki Evangelion, Tenkuu no Escaflowne, and Bubblegum Crisis Tokyo 2040 are all classic mecha titles.

There is a small town somewhere in Japan, surrounded by nature which is the home to a large and gorgeous high school, Otobashi Gakuen; was founded to make the students familiar with nature. Kurusugawa Himeko appears to be a normal student, leads a bright and enjoyable school life with her two friends, Himemiya Chikane and Ogami Soma. Chikane is a daughter of a distinguished family. She is excels at both studying and sports, she is wise and beautiful, she has familiar personality and is the idol of the other students (of both genders). Ogami Soma is a childhood friend of Himeko. He has problems expressing his emotions directly but he is very sincere. |

On the ferry to the school, they find a girl floating in the water, holding a huge black sword. After rescuing her, the boat is attacked by another girl with a dog/artillery mecha thing. She warns Mai not to go to the school and to hand over the girl they found. After a big fight (sinking the ferry) Mai, the girl and her sword suddenly appear at Fuuka academy. In the year 2075, travel into space and to the moon has become a commuter event, but the inattentiveness of the past many years has caused problems that threaten safe travel.
